Leadership Judged

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, the quality of the world’s leadership can be judged in three ways, prosperity, peace, and freedom. By all three metrics our world leaders are abject failures. Liberty has become a dirty word to the ivory tower types. Censorship is the norm today, misinformation is deadly… to a narrative. This includes Europe, Canada, and perhaps soon, the US. Open double standards have become the standard. Wars rage or simmer across the planet. Meanwhile, European elites are calling for conscription of the few children that made it past the abortionist’s knife, to die for them. Prosperity is a thing long forgotten in energy poor Europe. Industry is collapsing, not simply due to the cost and unavailability of energy, but also due to the lack of skilled replacements, and rising crime.

Elitists claim we need their leadership because they will deliver the goods… prosperity, peace, and freedom… yet actually always deliver famine, war, and tyranny. They argue that if given world domination, they could centrally plan planetary wealth, planetary peace, and liberty limited by expedient. In other words, a Star Trek like Utopia. A pragmatist might ask, Why then has no centrally planned system ever functioned? Why is it the closer to a centrally planned system we get the worse outcomes for everyone? (Even the elite in the long run).” The idealist might answer, “Because the wrong people were in charge, real communism has never been tried,” or maybe, “it was done on too small a scale…” Regardless of excuse, our centrally planned (soft) systems are failing.

Why do I say Centrally planned (soft) systems? It’s because we live in a largely centrally planned system today. Take the EU as an example. The national governments are subservient to it despite their having armies. Consider what desk-bound despots would do if they had a military? Judging by past behavior they would use it to enforce their will at every occasion. As the EU imports foreign fighters, protects, feeds, and houses them, the situation for natives paying the crushing taxes diminishes. If member states try to elect leaders that don’t believe in central planning the central planners simply annul the election and replace the candidates with more agreeable types. This was done in Romania recently. So Europeans live in a centrally planned system whether they understand it or not.

In the US we have moved all the way to the ten yard line of communism. The progressives have finished their long march through the institutions. That’s why Every attempt to move the ball back down the field is stopped by the referees (the courts) as a foul. We don’t even notice as two hundred and fifty pages are added to the Federal Register… a day. The spirit in America used to be, we’ll make it! Now we ask, is it legal to make it, how much will we have to pay lawyers, and are there any workers who can read and write available? It’s because of the failed centrally planned education system. The administrative state is trying to drag us past that last ten yards. The problem is, we are alarmed at their clear failures as leaders… by every measure.

The US went into free fall under Biden. Even as Canada is in free fall under Carney. Europe is nearing civil war or civilizational devouring. The standard of living in those nations is falling rapidly. Meanwhile the leaders prove their ineptitude or malevolence by calling for war on Russia. The problem has got so bad in Europe and especially the UK, people are arrested for non-crimes. This is a euphemism for punishing wrongspeak that comes from wrongthink. By every metric, prosperity, peace, and freedom, the entire world’s elite are failing. The magnificent deficits every nation on the planet have built up hiding their malfeasance is astonishing. Our elite are exactly what Hsun Tzu was talking about when he said, a terrible person burns down his state to rule over the ashes.

Sincerely,
John Pepin
