Grassroots Versus Astro Turf

Dear Friends,

It seems to me we live in an AstroTurfed world. Nothing we see is organic. Everything we are allowed to see is fabricated to form and protect a narrative to enable the extraction to continue. When social media took allowing people to speak, the elite went into fits of rage. Now the courts across the planet have empowered the elite to censor and even jail people for wrongspeak. You could say that the elite have been using Roundup on anything organic that might pop up. The media were exposed as being mouthpieces for Sauron, or as others call it… the CIA. A mockingbird media have been singing to us for generations. Their job is to produce acres and acres of AstroTurf. The elite then will carpet over the world with it. So better be careful not to fall, that stuff is sharp as razor-blades to the skin.

The payola press produces nothing but narrative. Mark Twain is often cited as saying, “If you don’t read the papers you’re uninformed, and if you read the paper you’re ill-informed.” Whether he actually said it is a moot point, the idea stands. The “news” media are and have always been liars who shill for the elite. It was the Spanish-American war in his day. Today it’s an all-out war with Russia, we have to invade Russia, despite the nuclear fallout. Back in the 1800’s though the barking was obviously just that. Today however, now that Edward Bernay’s propaganda has had a century to work it’s magic, people were mesmerized by the payola press. Then, to the horror of the elite, social media became a persistent weed poking out of the AstroTurf. The sight of grass jarred people from their slumber.

The advent of social media was initially heralded as a watershed moment by the elite. In their arrogant stupidity they thought the rest of us would see how enlightened the elite are and so allow them unlimited power to centrally plan the world. When we turned out to be every bit as self-interested as them, they were aghast. The internet and social media allowed for the first time since Edward Bernays put a lock on free speech, grassroots movements could spring up. The siloing of location became a broken tool. Now people could reach out to like-minded others across the nation or planet. I think it was the rise of the Tea Party movement that shocked the elite into going full despot. They realized that grass-roots uprisings could cover their AstroTurf in a decade unless they acted.

So act they did. The rise of censorship came shortly after the Tea Party movement in the US and Tommy Robinson in the UK. Since about 2008 in the US the government has become the enemy of freedom. In Europe I suspect the time frame is similar. Since then governments have ratcheted up the tyranny until now the EU suspends elections if they dislike the winners, ban parties, and now it appears political assassinations are all the rage in Germany. AfD candidates can’t get life insurance even at Lloyd’s of London. Censorship, jailing people for opinions, and election shenanigans are the acts of desperate people. Secure people don’t feel the need to silence others. The desperation then to maintain the AstroTurf is telling of the elite’s intentions.

Even as the elite claim we will own nothing and be happy, they lower our standard of living and raise theirs. Every nation on the planet is in astounding debt. Why? Because the world’s economy has become extractive. The pattern is clear, tell people they are doing great and extract as much as possible until the economy crashes, get a loan to bail yourself out… and do it again. Argentina is a great example of the cycle of extraction. Perhaps they are on their way out of the hole but I bet the moment their economy booms, Milei will be arrested, communists will take over, and the cycle of extraction will start anew. Sadly, that cycle isn’t only happening in Argentina but across the world. That game can only be played on AstroTurf, though. Real grass won’t stand up for it.

Sincerely,

John Pepin
