It seems to me, suicidal empathy is based on an infantile notion that everyone thinks exactly alike. The same absurdity drives progressives’ utter hatred for conservatives. They believe we all think alike, so for someone to believe differently but think like them… they must be evil. Another example of this infantile reasoning is the crazy idea that all cultures are equal. Each example is premised on the notion that everyone thinks alike and wants the same things. To those with suicidal empathy, the Jihadi must want the same things they do. They cannot fathom anyone thinking so utterly differently and having such utterly different wants. It makes no sense that the hated conservative is more pragmatic. The possibility that some cultures fail because they are barbaric seems racist to them.
Empathy itself is the ability to see from another’s point of view. This presupposes understanding that person’s point of view. Otherwise it is imagining what someone you know nothing of wants, feels, and thinks. It’s the acme of arrogance. Since people with completely different life experiences, religions, and educations cannot fully understand each other’s viewpoints, true empathy is not possible. It is replaced by a story. So people replace the real wants and desires of others with their own wants and desires. Since they have great affinity for their own wants and desires they transfer that affinity to people who are not like them at all. This is an example of the prey attributing its own motivations to the predator. It won’t work out well for the prey but the predator gets a meal.
When someone judges people they know nothing of, as themselves, they get easily led astray. A swindler merely needs to determine the patsy’s wants and apply those wants to the person or faction they want the patsy to empathize with. That’s how the globalist progressives get gays to side with the Islamists. They claim the Islamists only want to be free to pursue their lifestyle as they see fit. Gays want the same thing so they must be aligned. I’m sure many Jews voted for Hitler for the same reasons. He was an outsider who wanted change and an economically strong Germany, outsiders too they agreed. But, as it turned out, they didn’t agree. That was because the Jews couldn’t imagine someone who thought like Hitler, just as gays can’t imagine anyone thinking as Islamists do.
A progressive only sees the good in progress and thinks everyone else must too. How could they not see the value in progress? From this mindset, all sorts of atrocities become possible. If a few atrocities pave the way for progress then crimes against humanity become a necessary evil. If an atrocity is justified by progress, then how much more justified, or rationalized, is a mere lie? Moreover, they often believe everyone thinks the same way, so our revulsion at atrocity is mere posturing. That’s what they would do if out of power… posture as righteous to get power back. Those who believe we all think alike project their own attitudes, actions, and sins on everyone else. Someone without self-control projects that lack on the rest of us. This makes despotic regulation seem to be common sense.
The key is that everyone thinks differently. To believe we all think alike is infantile. Moreover, we all have different motivations, wants, and desires. Otherwise everyone would want the same job and all the others would go unfilled. So this attribute of people, that we don’t all think alike, is both a strength and a weakness. The weakness is that it gives rise to infantile notions. Just like some people are solipsists, others believe we all think alike. In a thriving society this would be basic education but in our dystopian education system, it’s arcane knowledge hidden from all but the initiate. So it’s up to us. When confronted by someone with suicidal empathy, ask them if they believe everyone thinks basically alike… see if I’m wrong.
