Limericks

Dear Friends,

Arguments for war bounce about like a cue ball in pool,
Dictate from a throne and fought by people on a stool,
It’s a protected club,
But here’s the rub,
If they shouldn’t have nukes they shouldn’t rule.

Our Constitution gets in their way,
Limits annoy them day by day,
So connive at night,
To pervert the light,
And their authority is now based on hearsay.

Totalitarianism is normalized today,
Where only the elite have a say,
It’s just a show,
This I know,
The sheep can’t vote the wolves away.

Ideas circle around minds like a vulture,
As ours is cursed with a societal rupture,
It’s worse than you think,
With a nudge and a wink,
These problems all come from our toxic culture.

Tolerance is a potent weapon in the culture war,
It only goes one way but wait there’s more,
Our wrongthink is dangerous,
Wrongspeak is contemptuous,
And pure stupidity is at their philosophical core.

Sincerely,
John Pepin
