Limericks

Dear Friends,

Once there lived a man called Voltaire,
Deep into philosophy he would stare,
He said with a fright,
And some insight,
Absurdity leads to atrocity so take care.

Thune is an unimpressive politician,
Threading a needle with intuition,
He said herding cats,
I’ll empower democrats,
Making profligate spending an institution.

The unreasonable can’t be reasoned with,
Holding grudges, full of wrath and pith,
Chanting a refrain,
Inflicting general pain,
And running as fast as they can right off a cliff.

You will do and think in allowable ways,
Following woke the rest of your days,
Though it’s absurd,
Like a clean turd,
It’s inculcated by the system of Edward Bernays.

There once was an absurdist ______,
Though his ideas smelled of a ______,
A man of the age,
A woman enraged,
Who put the horse before the ______.

Sincerely,
John Pepin
