Dear Friends,
It seems to me, most people misunderstand the fundamental role of laws and regulations… they are supposed to facilitate, not hinder. That they hinder and don’t facilitate is because it’s much easier to make rules that hinder than facilitate. Facilitating requires cunning, wisdom and human heartedness, while most of us only wield cunning. We connive to get what we’re told we want. Instead of being wise and seeking to get what we do want, and need. So rules and regulations are made to hinder instead of facilitate. They are a tool of the elite to unjustly take and call it just. Thus hindering the economy, humanity and science. If the rules we are subject to facilitated, instead of hindered, the economy would roar, our standard of living would be high and our future would be bright. But they’re not.
Not only is it difficult to write rules that facilitate, it’s so hard, unintended negative consequences constantly turn up. Requiring more regulations to address the unintended consequences of the first. Which themselves will have unintended consequences… and so forth. Leading to an environment where everything is eventually regulated by law. Under such a paradigm, business must grind to a halt, and all commerce will be done by government. The reason it’s so difficult to write facilitating regulation, is to do so, requires human hearted omniscience. Since no one has human hearted omniscience, no one can effectively write facilitating regulations or laws. The best we can hope for are laws and regulations that are limited. Since regulations grow over time they must eventually overgrow the garden.
As the rules become ever more complex, to close loop holes, and address unintended consequences… those rules become ever more burdensome. Once commerce can’t operate due to the regulations, and government takes over, you have socialism. The climax species of government. Until the forest is destroyed and starts anew. That’s the path through history the human race has trod many times. Roman elites argued their world was so complex it needed a huge bureaucracy to control it. Then the Roman bureaucracy created so much friction and perverted incentives that even a slave based economy ground to a halt. Showing that governments evolve to destroy themselves. It’s a quality of governance. Because, there are always justifications for more laws, and never a reason for less.
Eventually, once the rules become so total and arcane it’s impossible not to break some, everyone is a criminal. Talk about regulations that harm. Once we’re all criminals we’ll have to cower before government like a mouse before a cat. Cutting government from feedback. Silencing everyone. Because, if they speak, the government will charge them with a crime. Collecting rainwater, cooking with gas, or have the wrong kind of roof… and prison is awaiting your criminal derriere. You see, regulations are not simply a tool of control, they’re a tool of control. The fear of them makes people self censor. Fear is sane since bureaucracy has no heart, soul or conscience. Which is why all civilizations, states and nations before ours, have risen in virtue and fallen in vice.
Rules that facilitate are simple, few, and go away if they fail at facilitating. The exact opposite of the paradigm today. Where regulations are immortal. I would get Mohair goats to collect the free government money… if it weren’t so blood soaked. It would be nice to reverse the train and back away from the end of the track, but that’s not how this stuff works. The elite are the drivers. Making laws and regulations that hinder our nation, people and mankind itself, to benefit themselves. So they’re not going to stop. One of Trump’s biggest sins in the eyes of the elite was removing regulations. Like kudzu, in every nation, regulations will grow to overwhelm the system, and that nation will collapse. The wise prepare for it, the foolish egg it on, and patriots speak up to slow it, as they get ready.
Sincerely,
John Pepin
