The Hubris Of The Experts

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, the hubris of the experts will be the end of us all. Why is their hubris so much more dangerous than the guy on the street? We all have crazy thoughts now and then…? Because experts have the sway to force their insanity on mankind. They have the education that it takes to become an expert. That in and of itself makes their mental mutations monstrous. The authority of the title expert appeals to those who want to be on the winning team, but don’t want to overwork their brain. Even as they advocate for unlimited government to impose their absurdist notions upon the rest of us… for our own good, obviously. This leads to people who must be arrogant, egoistic, and stupid. Since those with unlimited power have unlimited appetites… especially the do-gooders.

The hubris of the experts works through appeal to authority and blame-shifting for the resulting catastrophe. Hobbes is said to have suggested, What makes a king a king? Public opinion. In the case of experts, it’s public opinion that makes them experts and they sway public opinion by being experts. This is a classic circular feedback loop. This is what I mean when I say, The ivory tower has an echo. Moreover, expert status is only tangentially a function of education, intellect, or wisdom… it’s more a function of charisma. In line with the philosophies of Cicero, La Rochefoucauld, and Schopenhauer… delivery trumps content. Experts eloquently propose stupidity, as when Alcibiades urged an attack on Syracuse, then blamed Nicias for the outcome. The guy who wisely advised not to invade.

The experts always have a great reason why we should blindly follow them… like when the Covid epidemic forced them to take charge. Despite the fact, the medical experts transferred the technology to make biological weapons to the CCP, created Covid, released it, then ordered us to take an untested shot with deadly side effects. The clot shot has resulted in untold deaths and life altering disabilities. The hubris of the experts was on full display then, and that hubris was magnified by their lack of self reflection on the millions killed and harmed. The same people who let their full wrath fall upon innocent people for refusing an experimental shot, want unlimited power to do it again. Because what if a deadly pandemic happened, wouldn’t you want a central authority to manage it?

The way to reduce the threat of the hubris of the experts is to cut their power. If we reduced the power, scope, and role of government, the apparatus of expert power, the experts will be hobbled in their ability to do damage. They will still have the force of appeal to authority, and that fallacy will always be sufficient to move many minds. The ability to use violence to enforce stupidity, however, would be eliminated. That alone would minimize the damage they could do in the future. Another way to ground experts in reality is to ridicule them… poke holes in their egos, and the gas released will fuel the nation for decades. Because the only difference between an expert and someone babbling on a street corner is the experts has the authority, power, and education allow them to force us live in their nightmares.

The time has come to really cut the role, scope, and reach of government… to protect us from the hubris of the experts. Half measures simply will not do. Bubble economies, economy-crushing green energy, and Covid are enough. Our power is in our voices. If we contact our senators, representatives, MPs, judges, Prime Ministers, Presidents, and potentates… they will listen. We can force government to limit itself… but that would require work. Government power is money and rent seekers will cling to their grift with a death grip. But getting rid of waste, fraud, and abuse is only a side effect. The goal is to cut the ability of stupid experts to kill millions of us. The hubris of the experts is like a lion in your living room… how much work would you do to get rid of it? Would you at least make a call?

Sincerely,

John Pepin
