India

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that India has just finished a free and fair election. (at least as viewed from my vantage point). The subcontinent is on it’s way to economic power. And I am impressed that India has a manned Space Exploration initiative! The shackles on India are the caste system, too much government, terrorism, too much ignorance that fosters socialist and communist thought.

The potential of India is staggering. With a giant population as a titanic resource at it’s disposal, India can become wealthy and powerful in a generation, (if it has the will). The problem is that people’s opinions have momentum. They are hard to move but opinion builds on itself. The communists and progressives have been using this tool to gain power since their inception. Take the “green” movement…

People’s opinions in India are deeply entrenched. The caste system will not go away soon. Terrorism is out of the hands of the Indian government and people. All they can do is mitigate the occurrences and outcomes.

But too much government can be swept away with a bold enough pen. The people must be well read enough to know the positive outcomes that these innovations hold for them and their children. Not immediately but in a decade or so…

The communists, progressives and socialists chant immediate fixes. They always do redistribute someone else’s money. The result of which is the lowering of the total wealth of the nation. Thus the worsening of the lot of every person in that nation. Causing the need for more redistribution, and on and on…

Education in the entrepreneurial spirit in the hinterlands would be great if the wasn’t an underlying societal myth of the caste system. Using religion as justification the caste system will hold India back for generations. Nonetheless, actually unbiased Education, about Twentieth Century history would go a long way to stemming the communists and socialists.

That is not to say India has not done a terrific job educating her children. The people of India are as well educated as any in the World. Reading rates are very high. India has come a long way in the World community. From the Raj to free and fair elections. India is coming fast… the rest of the World should take notice.

Sonia Sotomayor’s Nomination

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that President Obama’s pick to fill the vacant Supreme Court position, Sonia Sotomayor, has gotten a free pass from the unbiased media. We are poorly served when the media only peers at one political party in a two party system, and gives the other party a free pass. Our representative Democracy (Republic) depends on a truly unbiased media…

During the Clinton administration, every week on NPR, Bill Siemens wrung his hands that negative news about the President shouldn’t even be aired unless it is absolutely true and materially affects his performance in office. Week after week NPR went on that the evil blogs and crazies on the internet were finding out bad things about the President that should be hushed up by the unbiased media. Quite another story during the Bush years…

The unbiased media went along with the total slash and burn politics that characterized the Bork nomination. Rumors and outright lies were reported as truth. Instead of attacking the man’s arguments the Progressive Elites attacked the man personally. Destroying him in the process. The unbiased media happily went along like lap dogs.

Clarence Thomas was run through a wood chipper in the unbiased media. How he got out alive is beyond me. But I feel very sorry for what the unbiased media and the Progressive Elites put him through.

John Roberts and Sam Alito were given prostate exams by the unbiased media… What did all these men have in common? They are constructionists. They don’t think the Constitution should be rewritten by every new Supreme Court that sits. Doing so destroys the document’s value and use. It becomes the side of the barn in George Orwell’s “Animal House”. We must guard against that at all costs!

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was given a free pass. There was no looking into possible bias in that she was formerly chief council for the ACLU. Since she has been on the Court she has found that the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States does not give the people the right to keep and bear arms, It gives the GOVERNMENT the right to keep and bear arms. Any cursory reading of the Federalist papers and other founding documents disproves her assertion. So she intends to rewrite the Constitution using her model. Her Hubris in such an action is without parallel. Well, maybe not isn‘t that the definition of the sovereignty of Kings?

From what I have read about Sotomayor’s rulings from the bench she appears to be cut from the same sack cloth as Ginsburg. But not in the unbiased media they have studiously reported nothing of her judicial philosophy. I have had to search the internet crazies and evil blogs to get any examples of her past rulings. They are not flattering, as would be expected, from evil blogs and such… Of course it would be biased for the media to give some representative examples of her past rulings… But she does have a compelling personal story. I guess in this case that is all that counts…

Together they will lobby for more legislation from the bench. Taking on more and more of the Legislative Branch’s authority. Apparently the Legislative Branch is willing to cede this authority willingly… The Senate must confirm her. Apparently things can be passed from the bench, the Progressive Elites believe in, that cannot pass the political process. (Where it belongs).

The Constitution is our only bulwark against the power of out of control government. Toss it out and despite the promises of the Elite we will be enslaved soon there after by out of control government… Yea… lets go back to the sovereignty of Kings… That’ll probably work better for us than it did for thousands of years…

Bang Bang Bang…

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that in many ways we are like flies trapped in a house. We think we see what is good but it’s only a misdirection. So we keep banging our heads against the window. We see the good, it is right in front of us, but we cannot reach it directly. Like a fly we just bang into the obstruction thinking that it will go away someday…

The problem is that what we think is good is only what we are told and shown is good. We see the Elite having sex with every one they meet and we think that would be good for us. We see the Elite spending gobs of money on foolishness and we think that would be good for us too. We see the Elite living in mansions and we are convinced that is the ticket to happiness.

As a result we fly to what we perceive as good. But we keep hitting a roadblock. Some invisible barrier that stops us from being happy. The Mansion is never big enough, the money is never enough, the joy of things is transitory, and the joy is sexual gratification leads to misery, ala Schopenhauer…

Socrates in his endless discussions about justice always portrayed people as being misdirected to what is really good. The example of the cave is illuminating. Pun intended… We are shown by those that control the projector what to believe. Socrates said that a philosopher is someone who sees the world for what it truly is. Not as we are shown it to be. The reality of what is really good is an example…

He also argued that people are unjust because they do not know better. If they knew what was really good for them… Presumably we would be more like Socrates or Solon and less like Alcibiades or Mineo…

That good is within us. Not outside us. Religions agree that when we seek good externally we find sorrow, when we seek good within us we find happiness. Think about this. Some people who are very poor are happy people. Some people who are very wealthy are unhappy. Some people who are famous are unhappy. Some people who have many things are unhappy. But most tellingly, some people who are sickly, are happy… Obviously wealth, fame, possessions, or even health is not the common denominator. Something else must be…

And so we keep banging our heads against the glass…

Green… Deserts?

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that if the environmental Nazi faction of the Elite want to take a chunk out of atmospheric carbon dioxide they should champion greening the world’s deserts. Water pipelines could be built bringing millions of gallons of water to deserts around the world. The water could then be used to produce food and bio fuel feed stock.

The water for American deserts could be brought down from Canada. (As of today Canada has a moratorium on selling any water). The Sahara would require salt water abatement plants that would use solar heat to process salt water into potable water. The Asian deserts could be fed from the river mouths that empty into the Pacific.

The building of thousand mile long oil pipelines is commonplace. The technology is similar but doesn’t have the need for immediate cleanup if a potable water spill occurs. Rail road right of ways could be a potential corridor.

Political road blocks would be the most intractable. Canada’s moratorium on selling any sovereign water to other countries is as foolish as it is nationalistic. Canada that acts so enlightened… But refuses to help water poor nations by selling water that is pouring into the Atlantic ocean. Generating economic activity and providing needed resources to human beings. People’s prejudices are hard to overcome…

Two main effects on the worlds air and societies would result. The first is that much more food would be available to people to fill their bellies. Along with room to live. A side effect of more room to live is less wars to fight. Depressurize some of the worlds populations and maybe some reason could be used…

The second would be a huge sopping up of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Not only food but bio fuels would be produced. Some of these bio fuels would be plowed under to generate green manure and build the soils and so sequester that carbon in the soil. The bio fuels would displace their mass in carbon from the atmospheric load. The cumulative effect would be to stop or at least dramatically slow atmospheric carbon buildup…

I don’t believe that atmospheric carbon dioxide is raising the Earth’s temperature. The only evidence that I need to refute the Nazis is that Nasa has determined that Mars has warmed by .6 degrees in the last fifty years. (They claim Earth has raised by .7). We are closer to the sun and so any raise in the sun’s output would effect us disproportionately. The parallel is too coincidental. The cause must be something common to both planets. Atmospheric carbon dioxide buildup is not. Remember the law of conservation of energy… Energy is never lost it only changes form ending in heat. So the Sun doesn’t necessarily have to put out more energy in the form of heat. It could put out more energy in the form of radio energy in the GPS spectrum for example…

But providing more room for humanity to expand is a good thing. People the world over no matter the country of their origin deserve to have liberty, (economic freedom, self determination) and the absolute right of self protection. These rights stand in stark contrast to where the world’s Elite want to take us. They want to take away our means of defending ourselves. Then, with the lever of “global warming”, pry our liberty from us.

Political Parties Police Each Other

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Dear Reader,

It seems to me that when dealing with people who employ go for the throat politics it is wise to employ go for the throat politics. In the USA the Democrats are good at policing the Republicans. The Republicans are terrible at policing the democrats however.

When Newt Gingrich was speaker of the house the democrats relentlessly hounded him until they got him on teaching his philosophy in the classroom. Destroying him politically for a decade. When a republican Senate leader said at a retirement party that if the old guy had won (as a Dixicrat) the country would be different. The democrats crushed him politically so that he had to give up his leadership position.

Now we have speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in a row with the American CIA about the content of certain briefings. The worthless republicans are quiet. They haven’t the stomach for a fight. This, at a time when She, Ms Pelosi, is actively trying to criminally prosecute republicans for a policy dispute about the very acts and knowledge of, that are in question!

She is saying that the CIA didn’t actively say that water boarding was actually being used at the time and had been used. The CIA records of the meetings in question say that Ms Pelosi and the other attendees of the meetings were given this information. The recollection of some of the other attendees agree.

Ms Pelosi was adamant that Scooter Libby should go to jail for his not being able to remember details of casual conversations years back. Yet she is expecting a pass for not recollecting the main subject matter of CIA national security briefings. Briefings that were pertinent to what she herself has cauterized as criminal and is fervent about.

Democrats engage in go for the throat politics. They don’t bother answering legitimate questions they destroy their political enemies. Republicans are either too squeamish to do the same or agree with the policies of the democrats. Both possibilities condemn their ability to effectively be a loyal opposition.

With the republicans weak at policing the democrats, and democrats with such a monopoly on power in the USA today, the incentives to corruption are great. If the republicans agree with the direction that the democrats want to take the country they will fall easily into the corruption and become the scapegoats of the democrats when some whiff of the putrefaction comes to light. Those that don’t agree will be destroyed…

Stalin’s Chicken

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Dear Readers,

It seems to me that the tactics used by the Taliban, Communists, Al Qaeda, National Socialist Party, and others are like Stalin’s Chicken, (explanation here). This tactic is merely a means to power. It has no redeeming attributes. The means is to achieve power for the few at the expense of the many. The definition of Aristotle’s Oligarchy. It is a Machiavellian scheme that violates Machiavellian principles. This means Stalin’s Chicken has a few weak points that are studiously overlooked by those that are fighting such monsters…

The population would prefer some other government they just don’t have the power to change their situation. The average person who is the subject of the violence cannot fight back. The freedom to keep and bear arms is the first social contract broken when these groups and others like them seek power. The common man’s defense is taken from him. Therefore we are reduced to dependant on the State to protect us from our fellow citizens and more importantly… the State.

This seems to follow the tenet that a wise prince seek a way that his people rely on him for everything and in every way, to guarantee the loyalty of the people. In fact it violates Machiavelli’s fundamental principle that a prince have the backing of the people. If a prince must forswear the backing of either the people of the Aristocracy it is wiser to forswear the backing of the Aristocracy.

The economy is savaged by the constant violence and intimidation. Fear and perpetual intimidation result in only the most basic economic operations taking place. Food clothing and shelter are produced. No one wants to stick his or her neck out to make a profit that will probably result in the seizure of it and lead to the death of one and one’s family.

Machiavelli was strident in propounding a strong economy. Economic power of the principality being a fundamental maxim. Machiavelli said that a stable tyranny is better for the middle class than an unstable democracy. In that a stable principality is better for business. An unstable principality is bad for business. If business is good the people’s necessities will be met. This makes us more peaceable and leads to a more powerful army that is better at protecting the principality, the people and the prince…

Average people are repulsed by the violence. No matter how you may detest a crime it is quite different to see a person stoned to death than to simply know but not witness it. Part of the weal of Stalin’s Chicken is that the violence must be in the face of the people. To terrorize us into submission. Violent acts are in front of the people constantly.

This violates Machiavelli’s tenet that an evil done to a people must be done quickly and ended as soon as possible. (He went on to say a good should be extended in time so the people can better enjoy it). Perpetual evil makes a people restless. This necessitates more repression…

So as Machiavellian as Stalin’s Chicken is it violates many of Machiavelli’s basic tenets. It alienates the people from the tyrant, it weakens the economy, and it makes the people restless. These shortcomings could be used by those that seek to stop such un human hearted systems from becoming powerful. Alas this has and is not being done…

Marijuana

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Dear reader,

It seems to me that legalizing marijuana would dramatically lower the use of harder drugs. When a user of marijuana goes to a “dealer” to buy “weed”, the dealer, if he sells other harder and higher profit margin drugs, is motivated to try to move the marijuana smoker to them. Simple economics. Perhaps to some dealers marijuana is a loss leader. In that it brings in other customers that could be interested in drugs with more markup…

Another important affect of legalizing marijuana would be to keep it out of our schools. If marijuana is sold in liquor stores or other controlled environments access to minors would be severely curtailed. With a legal market, users of marijuana would use the legal outlet and forgo the illegal one. Who wants to skulk around and pay a premium if you don’t have to. The incentives would be to take the easier and cheaper path. So with the illegal market gone minors would be reduced to standing near an outlet and trying to persuade some immature adult to buy it for them…

With marijuana taken from the schools the educational environment would be enhanced. Kids wouldn’t have nearly the access to marijuana to sell in the corridors of our schools. The access would be choked off. If now and then some barbarous adult buys some small amount it wouldn’t be enough to distribute. Think of when you were in school, did anyone sell liquor in the halls?

The government could milk the tax cow of marijuana like it does the lottery and cigarettes. The government gives worse odds than the mob did. The government takes some back, the mob didn’t. and the government doles it out in payments, the mob gave it cash. Yet we are told we are better off… the money is going to the children… More likely than not, it is going to the general budget. Or at least offsetting funds…

To be a stepping stone drug a substance must be illegal. The path that the step takes the potential traveler is to an illegal drug. Therefore the step must be illegal. How can a potential corrupter say “it is just like weed, it just lasts longer, makes you laugh, etc…, and weed it is illegal too.“ The logic falls apart if marijuana were legalized. So if marijuana is legal it is no longer a stepping stone drug.

Remove the stepping stone and people will have a much harder time stepping up to illegal drugs. People are open eyed. If they don’t immediately see a negative effect of drug usage they will be more inclined to use them. Especially kids. Remove the ready access to marijuana and kids will have a clearer understanding of the consequences of harder drugs (with proper education). Make the first step as hard as possible…

With less people in close access to harder drugs the usage of them would naturally go down. Public education about the negative effects of hard drugs would build back some societal myth against them. After some time the scourge of drugs and the crime it spawns can be pushed back… as long as our leaders don‘t lead us back there…
