It seems to me, the progressives used to scream, “Split wood not atoms!” Then, once atoms stopped being split, they claimed burning wood is a terrible polluter, and must be regulated away. Which tells me, the real war was on our standard of living, not potential nuclear meltdowns. Each victory over our ability to use energy leading to another diminishment of our standard of living. Climate change isn’t about the State controlling the climate, but about lowering and controlling our standard of living. Why? It could be that our unusually high standard of living has cut the utility of wealth, so the wealthy are fed up. Maybe it’s greed, the favored want it all, most is just not enough. There’s the possibility the elite simply want to stay in power, and an independent wealthy populace isn’t interested in dependency?
You see the drive to lower the standard of living as an under current in everything the progressive globalists say. “You will own nothing and be happy…” pretty much sums their plans for us up. They want it all, and are simply not satisfied to be the 1% of the 1%, they want what Mao, Stalin and Fidel had… everything. Today’s progressive globalist wants all the money, property, as well as the minds, bodies and souls of all Earth’s inhabitants. Once they have unlimited power to enforce their will on mankind, the planet will convert into a garden of Eden. All that stands in the way are a few thousand atrocities against innocents. For such a worthy goal though, what are a few crimes against humanity? Which means, lowering our standard of living, in this case… is a means to an end.
Wealth used to mean something, before McMansions, Suburbans and plastic surgery for the masses ruined it. Now, anyone can bury themselves in debt to buy a McMansion, Suburban or even get a face lift. The stinking masses can even buy designer clothes if we’re willing to take on the debt. Wealth today isn’t obvious. Someone passing you on the interstate could be driving a 100k truck or car… and they could be rich, or in debt to their eyeballs. Which effectively destroys the utility of wealth. In other words, the usefulness of being rich is to flaunt it, but if you can’t flaunt it, what good is it? The only way to solve this dilemma is to lower our standard of living so we can’t buy McMansions, Suburbans or get face lifts. It’s not personal, nor is it universal… it’s just business.
Independent, self motivated and smart people are a threat to would be despots and oligarchs. I don’t think that’s a bold statement. It’s common knowledge. Tyrannies rise when the citizenry are dependent, corrupt and educated to be ignorant. Like when you build a stone wall. You gather rocks, lay out the wall, pour a foundation of gravel and build it. There’s a series of steps one takes when building a stone wall or a tyranny. When constructing a despotic state, one must lower the standard of living, to make the people dependent on the State, for everything and in every way… ala Machiavelli’s Prince. Then the people will be prepared for their enslavement. Dumb, dependent and weak we’ll be led to the slave pits. Because, as Lenin said, when making an omelet one breaks a few eggs.
I’m sure there are many other reasons as well, known only to those seeking to lower the lot of mankind. It’s unlikely the globalist progressive faction doesn’t know what it’s doing, given the elite’s educations, and access to information. The globalist progressive elite must lower the lot of Mankind. Chaos is the path to utopia. Judged by their actions, mercurial rhetoric and heroes. I don’t know anyone personally who has a Chairman Mao Christmas tree ornament for example. Our standard of living is in the cross hairs, whether to restore the utility of wealth, to amass unlimited power or insane greed, no matter, now that you know, what are you going to do about it? Nothing hasn’t worked, so why not try becoming active in our fight to raise the lot of Mankind? Let’s split atoms, wood and state power!
