It seems to me, demagogues need enemies like animals need food… and for the same purpose. Our progressive elites, for example, deftly move from one enemy to another. When they started, the enemies were anarchists, blacks, and the genetically defective. Once they had mined those enemies out, they moved on to fascists, racists, and Christians. Now those enemies have been exhausted, they are moving back to international enemies… like Russia. They never look back and never apologize for their crimes, while expecting others to suck it up and pay for them as well. How many apologies have you heard from progressives for the Eugenics movement? Any reparations offered? None, because to a demagogue, an enemy is food. A cat has no empathy for the mouse.
There are two ways one can organize a political faction, by hate or love. Of the two, hate is by far the more driving. Because hate motivates us to destroy… as a means of self-preservation. Even when it’s not. Progressives, socialists, communists, and fascists looked around at the world… and fixated on what they hate, using it to bind together a coalition. Meanwhile, conservatives look around at what they love, therefore want to preserve, and form a coalition around that. Even Machiavelli said that it’s better for a prince to be feared than loved, because people will betray someone they love to get ahead. Fear, however, prevents such action. Since hate and fear are inextricably linked, those factions that exploit hate and so are feared, and therefore safe from revolution.
The progressive philosophy, like its siblings communism, fascism, and socialism, requires an enemy to focus anger on. Thus the rulers can bind society together… the people, corporations, and government with the cords of hate. With old-style communism and socialism, the enemy was the bourgeoisie, Kulaks, and ruling class. Mao murdered up to 45 million people to usher in utopia, Pol Pot ran out of bullets and was reduced to using bats and bread bags. Meanwhile, Fidel Castro, the least bloodthirsty, only slaughtered 50,000 people when he came to power. The fascists chose the Gypsies, Slavs, and Jews as their enemy. Modern progressives have vilified Christians, Whites, and the far right. They twisted the hate they had ginned from disquiet into a stout rope, binding society together… to make it a club.
A club bound by twisted strands of hate, however, is limited in lifespan. Unlike flax, hate is soluble in love, empathy, and time. So over time, those strands weaken until they snap regardless of the skill with which they were wound. So the hate needs to be constantly regenerated. Even that, however, can only go on for so long. Eventually human heartedness kicks in and people begin to get empathy. Today, few in the West openly hate blacks, Slavs, the disabled, Gypsies, Christians, whites, or the bourgeoisie. The hate for those groups has been mined out. So the progressives have deftly danced to the Russians. Today we are supposed to hate the Russians sufficiently to stop critical thinking… and form a fasces. The Canadian elite are already using it to beat journalists who expose their machinations.
The elite are like spiders… they consume hate and produce silk that they use to trap and bind. Love is incompatible with the demagogue’s digestive system however. Today, the Islamists are expedient allies of the progressives, but in the future, once their usefulness has been exhausted, they’ll be the next target. Hate skillfully twisted into a strand that binds us together into a club. A mace the elite will use without sympathy… because people who exploit hate are cruel as cats. Then, once the hate for Muslims has been mined out, they will have another group at hand, for the next bindings. There is a clear pattern that could be broken… if we have the gumption, wisdom, and self control to break it. Such factions choke on love, just as empathy dissolves hate as acid erodes sisal.
