Liars, Bold Faced Liars and The Media

Sunday, June 11th, 2017

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, any news outlet that doesn’t allow commentary on it’s site, has something to hide. Moreover, their reputation is the capital the media transacts business on, as they corrode their reputational capital, their viewership and therefore their profits, must also corrode, making them ever more angry and disconnected from reality, and thus destructive of their own capital. I have also noticed those outlets that disallow the voices of the people they are preaching to… always have a progressive bent? Why do you suppose that is? I would argue that those selling a lie, cannot allow the truth to be told, because a lie, like an ugly house, is highlighted as ugly by a well maintained house next to it, the lie becomes obvious when the truth is available. As they keep peddling lies their reputations will continue to diminish until they are nothing but a laughing stock.

Of course there are dozens of way to lie. Outright lies, lies by omission, lies mixed with truth and lies disguised as truth. Some of the ways people and entities can lie are by, omission, misdirection, statistics, facades, deflection, calls to authority rather than debate, groupthink, dismissal of facts, fabrication, and out and out lies. One can even lie to oneself by delusion. All lies, to be believed, must not be scrutinized. Some lies can stand up to a fair amount of scrutiny before falling and others collapse the moment the reader burns a calorie thinking about it. The media uses every type of lie to forward their agenda and especially self delusion.

When someone is caught in a lie, their reputation becomes that of a liar. A person or entity that has a position of authority, as does the media, can shrug off the reputational damage being caught in a lie brings, but no one’s reputation can withstand multiple bouts of being caught in obvious, politically based lies. That is why a liar cannot abide a comment section on their news site! Their lies are scrutinized by their readership when there is a comment section and a liar can never allow that! Their reputation would be destroyed, as we see today with the legacy media. They have so despoiled their own names an ever growing segment of the population hold the media in utter disdain. They have destroyed their own reputations.

Today the media has become the propaganda arm of the globalist new class. Every story they “report” is mere propaganda designed to lull the people into a false sense of security, and blind us to their globalist agenda. Remember Walter Cronkite? He was called the most trusted man in America. As it turns out… he was an admitted new class globalist! He was slanting the news for decades to progress the globalist, anti American agenda his whole career, and was enabled by our perception of his “honesty!” That perception, of being the most trusted man in America, would have been wiped out, had people had been able to comment on his reporting. That is one reason why the media reminisces at their heyday when they were trusted and thus able to spread propaganda without commentary.

Every news story is slanted, attacking anything that would stand in the way of their utopia, which in Greek, means nowhere. The stories about the anti sharia protests were nothing but absurd propaganda. Calling those who don’t want female genital mutilation to be performed on little girls, rejecting forcing anyone not Muslim into dhiminitude, standing against wife beating, slavery, killing apostates (standing for freedom of religion), allowing free speech, etc… calling sane people haters, is propaganda that boarders on the insane. Every time a nut case shoots someone, the media go all in, calling for an end to our second amendment rights, as we are told to tolerate daily terrorist attacks and beheading on our streets… as part of the new normal. The utter human catastrophe in Venezuela is ignored because it goes against everything the media believes. They have gone completely insane.

The media has utterly ruined it’s reputation but are too blinded by self delusion to know. Despite every historical proof to the contrary… the new class progressive media has deluded itself into believing in socialism and global government. I have no doubt they actually do believe that if only the US was gone, and the UN took over the world implementing administrative government… wars would cease, hunger would vanish, no one would have to do dirty jobs, racism would go the way of the dodo, poverty would disappear, the seas would drop, the sun would always shine and we would all live as world citizens singing kumbaya all day long. They have convinced themselves of a glittering lie and seek to convince us as well, that is why they cannot allow ugly truths, those ugly truths merely get in the way of their fantastical dreams. The future will look back and tsk tsk at today’s media wondering how they could have been so crazy. Self delusion however is immune to reason and will not abide commentary on it’s foolishness. That is why I don’t believe a word on any new site that does not allow commentary.

Sincerely,

Liars, Propaganda, and Free Speech

Monday, October 17th, 2016

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, those who peddle lies, cannot abide free speech. The first thing a liar will tell you is how truthful he or she is. Exclaiming from the rooftops how honest and how trustworthy they are. The consummate liar will never admit she lied even when caught in it. Since there is such coercive power in government… liars naturally gravitate to it. Government’s ability to tell a lie and claim it is truth, by fiat and legislation, is very attractive to a liar and is both a means for government, and the liars within it, to amass more power and defend it’s ill gotten rule. One thing that allows a liar to get away with his lies is a willing and complicit media. When there is the convergence of a complicit media and bold faced liars in government, all within the same faction, free speech becomes detestable to them, and is under great threat of extermination.

The single faction that controls all three branches of government, the media, businesses and set our civilizational norms, is the new class. The new class is our modern version of aristocracy. Instead of birthright, yet, the modern aristocracy, new class, is based on education. University professors are the intellectuals of the new class, and lawyers, journalists, doctors, business executives and most politicians are the intelligentsia. The professors, intellectuals, set the agenda and the rest, intelligentsia, bring it about. The new class has wrested the means of production from the bourgeoisie, overwhelmed the culture with their version of reality, undermined our limited government by conniving and warped our culture with perversion. They are mostly progressives who cling to the Frankfurt schools ideology, and apply Herbert Marcuse’s theories how to implement Marxism without the revolution, ie, by hook and by crook. The new class, as a faction, has as it’s main philosophy critical theory, where truth is to be subverted, families are to be destroyed, religion is to be ridiculed and hedonism is to be embraced, as a means to destroy everything western free enterprise has created… all based on lies.

There was a show on NBR, (National Public Radio), called On the Media. On that show the new class overlords of the media, discuss their power to effect culture, society and policy. I used to listen to it. When I listened, the theme of every show invariably was, the media should claim to be unbiased, that even if they are biased they must hide it, to “protect journalism.” In other words, lying to protect their reputations and lies. Have you noticed how the media always claims it is unbiased? How they tell the unvarnished truth and exclaim from the rooftops how honest and righteous they are? All of which, claiming to be unbiased, shouting down their detractors with ad homonym attacks, loudly claiming to be truthful and never admitting when they are caught in a lie, are how liars operate.

Free speech is corrosive to lies. Wherever there is freedom of speech, liars have to compete with truth tellers, for the eyes, ears and minds of the people they are trying to round up and capture. Freedom of speech allows people to dispel the lies. Remember when Dan Rather conjured up a story out of whole cloth describing how George Bush was AWOL constantly during his time in the National Guard? It was a blogger who pointed out the document, Rather and CBS was peddling couldn’t have been typed in a 1967 typewriter, since the font hadn’t been invented until the 1980s. Dan Rather to this day claims he wasn’t lying! The New York Times has been caught so many times creating outright fiction and publishing it as true that it should be considered in the same vein as Arthur C Clark, Henry James and Ernest Hemingway… interesting reading but pure fiction.

Propaganda is government lying to forward a political agenda. Today propaganda has been made legal by the US Congress and signed into law by Obama. In other words, the US government has openly avowed they will lie to us to get us to act against our best interests. The idealized new class President, Barak Obama, shows open loathing for free speech, instead preferring propaganda. Remember Fast and Furious? Obama used naked propaganda to undermine the second amendment… by claiming gun dealers along the US Mexico boarder were supplying weapons to Mexican drug cartels. When he was caught in supplying those weapons himself, the propaganda putsch to outlaw guns along the US Mexico boarder was hushed up, and the lie he peddled was insistently forgotten… proving Machiavelli right. Hillary Clinton has learned well from her husband Bill that lies, no matter how absurd, will be believed if told with a straight face and a tear running down one cheek. Propaganda is a tool of liars and cannot tolerate free speech.

Those who peddle lies shrivel and wither in the light of truth… like a worm on hot pavement. To them, lies are a means to fool the masses into acting against our best interests, and forwarding their diabolical agenda. Happily using the tool of Goebbels, propaganda, to the same ends. One can reliably tell a liar by how loudly and adamantly they claim to be honest. Today the new class, the heirs of national socialism, Marxist ideology, atheistic hedonism and Nietzsche, have as their only real enemy the truth, and they will use deceit at every turn to undermine that enemy. They will do anything to progress the human race to their vision of utopia… a place without the love and nurturing of families, the stark hopelessness of atheism, the emptiness of hedonism and the self absorption of Nietzsche’s super man. All based on lies.

Sincerely,

John Pepin

The Poison of Propaganda

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, knowing propaganda is not the same thing as having knowledge. People who have been well indoctrinated in propaganda will stand on a rooftop and spout their pseudo knowledge with the certainty of a prophet. Most often those who think they know, will shout down someone who actually knows, because there is confidence in propaganda that is not available to those who actually understand the subject at hand. This is because actual knowledge requires an open mind, reasoned thought, observable reality and the evolution of knowledge, while propaganda gives a certainty that is not possible to someone with an open mind. Knowing the difference is critical if we are to seek knowledge and not fall victim to hucksters shilling propaganda.

Socialists, Marxists and progressives use propaganda like a poor Italian cook uses too much garlic. You can smell it on those that imbibe it. Propaganda is always offered as the end all truth. Anyone who has the audacity to offer a different opinion is vilified as promoting ignorance or as ignorant themselves. The propagandist will attack the person with an opposing view instead of addressing the arguments. That is because propaganda cannot stand up to open minded review while actual knowledge can.

The Enlightenment was about changing the source of knowledge from authority to observable reality. The propagandist eschews open debate for authority. You hear propagandists constantly referencing authority while claiming to be the rightful heirs of the Enlightenment. College professors are of this ilk. They stand in front of ignorant youths, (theoretically, that is why they are in college in the first place, to grow out of their ignorance), and teach them propaganda couched as truth, based totally upon the authority of the professor. This has become such a problem that colleges and universities have transformed into indoctrination centers for the new class progressive world view, real knowledge cannot be allowed, because it would alter the narrative that socialism is good and markets are bad, against all observations of history.

Global warming is the epitome of propagandist reasoning. The IPCC has been caught lying over and over, none of their predictions have come to pass and there is a ton of information available that counters their propaganda, but they rely on the false appeal to authority, “the science is settled.” Science is never settled, once the leading minds of the day were convinced light traveled through the “ether.” Today we know it doesn’t, because it is acts both a wave and a particle, which travels the same speed in any direction, all of which destroys the argument light travels through an “ether.” Real science is based on observation proving theory, in the global warming alarmist circles however, whenever observation goes against theory, it is observation that must be thrown out. We must instead rely on the self interested authority of the alarmists.

The youth are the most susceptible to propaganda. They haven’t the knowledge base or life experience to put into perspective the sweet lies that the propagandist feeds them. Since every one of us would rather believe a delectable lie rather than a bitter truth, propaganda that is appealing is well received by ignorant youths, as well as lazy minded adults. If you tell an old man that communism has never been tried, he will scoff at you and consider you an idiot propagandist, while an ignorant youth or lazy minded adult, will lap it up as though it was universal truth. In this case the poison of propaganda is sweet while the bitter truth of communism is hard to swallow.

By definition propaganda is false knowledge, or sophistry, that sounds reasonable but in fact is designed to trick people into making decisions that are not in their best interest. Otherwise why do it? Lacking life experience the youth are the most susceptible, but even lazy minded adults can be persuaded by propaganda, sometimes even when they know it is propaganda, because it is easier to just go along. The propagandist will make arguments based on partial truths mixed with many lies and backed by omissions. When they are caught in a lie they change the subject and their willing accomplices will vilify those who point out those lies. All showing that the propagandist despises the advances of the Enlightenment, and undermines it in the most pernicious ways, returning us to the dark ages of serfdom.

The bloody history of communism, socialism and progressivism shows all too well the results of mindlessly going along with propaganda. The progressive Woodrow Wilson and his eugenics movement led to the sterilization of thousands of American citizens against their wills, and provided the intellectual backstop for the Nazi eugenics based, final solution. The socialist Goebbels was the consummate propagandist, he used propaganda to put a ring in the nose of the German people, leading them to the most horrific slaughter of human beings the world has yet seen. Lenin used propaganda to enslave the Russian empire resulting in tens of millions of human beings, killed, tortured, sent to gulags and insane asylums. If we want to repeat that history, all that is required is to go along, if we wish to avoid such human suffering however, it is incumbent upon us to speak up and point out propaganda when we see it.

Principles Versus Party

Monday, December 16th, 2013

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, most folks will give up their beliefs for their team, but very few will give up their team for their principles. We all want our team to win. It is merely human nature. When we allow that want for connection to supersede our self interests then we become our own enemy. This happens in many places in life but no place more so than in the arena of politics. Too often we will subvert our principles for our party. If our party is caught lying, we forgive them, but if another party lies, we hold a grudge forever. While it is natural it is counterproductive. We follow out of a sense of connexion but as we do we do great damage to our self interests. It is through following principles that we protect our self interests, and the interests of society as a whole, party is only a means to that end.

Human beings need to be connected with others. Team sports is an example of this paradigm at work. We root for our team against all others. Like people in ancient times, and in less advanced societies allegiance to their clan. To a person raised in a capitalist society, where allegiance to clan is out moded we don’t understand their thinking on an intellectual level, but as human beings we are subject to it nonetheless. Those of us that live in a market system weigh the good against the bad and keep a mental tally sheet that guides us as to the right course of action. When we root for our party over our principles we fall back to a less evolved way of thinking.

We all would rather believe a glittering lie than an ugly truth but it is in facing ugly truths that we grow and mature. It is in indulging in glittering lies that we devolve as human beings, becoming a force for evil, regardless of the loftiness of the principles we have abandoned. Those that shriek about freedom to do this or that need to do the math. Weigh what we are all loosing for their team to win. Because what is a principle, if we don’t hold ourselves and our team, to them? They become nothing, but an egoistic means of controlling others, that we eschew ourselves. When we abandon our principles for political expediency, for the team, we participate in the destruction of those very principles. It is a hypocrite that expects others to follow his principles when he won’t follow them himself.

Without values society crumbles. A society that is devoid of any real principles is a society cast adrift. Great nations, societies and civilizations rise in virtue and fall in vice. This is the sole lesson of history. A great people rise to power, wealth and prominence by following their principles and fall into weakness, poverty and ignominy when they abandon those principles. It follows like water flows down a hill. There is not one example where a people rose to greatness without principles, in other words a societal myth, or where a society thrived by ignoring those principles.

Apparently this is a lesson of history that needs to be taught over and over. The results are always the same, the factors that lead up to the fall are always the same, but humanity refuses to learn the lesson. The vast majority of human suffering that has been experienced has been due to this. Today we are no better than the Athenian who abandoned Solon’s laws, the Spartan who turned his back on the laws of Lycurgus, or Rome when it embraced an emperor instead of the consular system. We are no different when we abandon our founding principles, the market system, limited government and individual liberty.

Our society is no stronger than the Athenian, Spartan or Roman, because our system is made up of flawed human beings, who are more than happy to give up our principles, for political expediency. The new class seek to regain the power they lost to the bourgeoisie, when the new class was called the aristocracy, and so they need to destroy the principles that gave rise to the bourgeoisie, the market system, limited government and freedom. They seek to restore the old system of political favor, total government and oppression.

When we the people participate in abandoning the principles that brought us to such a height of technology, wealth, and freedom, we are as villainous as the politician who lies, connives and usurps. If our team is part of the problem, it is our duty to sand up and demand our leaders return to our foundational principles, else those principles will wither away leaving a destitute society that is controlled by the few using violent oppression, which is the normal case in human affairs. We will have delivered our children into slavery, by abandoning our principles for the team. So I ask you… is the victory of your team worth the enslavement of your children?

Sincerely,

Who to Believe

Monday, September 16th, 2013

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, lest anyone believe too much what the media or government claims, all one needs to do is open an encyclopedia from the 1930’s, and read what it says about the Soviet Union under Stalin. People have far too much faith in what we are told by the unbiased media and government. We accept the stories as gospel, and are told to disbelieve gospel, thinking and acting wrongly as a result. We should read all that is available on a subject… especially that which we don’t agree with, else our perception becomes narrower and we ourselves become more and more ignorant, regardless of how enlightened we consider ourselves. The times in which we live are too perilous to be willfully ignorant.

Any encyclopedia you open, from the 1930’s, will have a glowing account of the wonders of communism under Stalin. I have a copy from 1940. It goes on and on about the rights of the people living under communism. It claims poverty is eliminated in the USSR. While history shows us, at the same time, the people of the Ukraine were being systematically starved to death. Untold human suffering was brought about by Stalin. In addition to the millions who had food stolen from them, food they had grown, there were purges that resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths by firing squad, hanging, and torture. History shows how very very wrong those encyclopedias were.

Despite the fact that many knew about the atrocities of the communists at the time, these fictions were written in encyclopedias and distributed to the American people as reality. Any librarian will tell you that an encyclopedia is the best of reference material. That they are subject to political ideology is not tragic, it is a statement on the veracity of those, who are the gatekeepers of information. Not a pretty statement either. That such atrocities were glossed over, by the media elite and even the writers of encyclopedias, is damming of those who promoted such fables as truth.

Truth is not subject to perspective. Truth must be objective else it is opinion. Today we are inundated with opinion that masquerades as truth. The tragic part is that real truth is more often than not, derided as opinion or conspiracy. We can see in the example of the encyclopedia that even the most reliable sources of information are subject to political calculation. Opinions that are portrayed as truth, are a fallacy that we must realize as such, or we will be subject to acting on lies… to our own and our children’s detriment.

When we have only lies, opinion and falsification to base our decisions on, we are not really making informed decisions… we are being manipulated. People who manipulate, never do it for the benefit of those who are manipulated, but for their own egoistic self aggrandizement, to garner wealth or to seize power. Not one of those reasons are human hearted. The thoughtful individual has to be very careful of what we believe, and what we disbelieve, but to be a rational maximizer we must not discount information, we are told by the elite media, is conspiracy. They have been caught so many times fabricating lies and portraying them as truth they cannot be believed at all. Look at CBS, creating from whole cloth lies about George Bush’s military record, reporting it days before an election and claiming them as reality, when nothing could be further from the truth.

The wise man and woman believes everything and nothing. It is critical to understand the nature of men and mankind to know truth. When a news story claims that people are behaving in a way that is not consistent with history, human nature or logic, the rational human being has to weigh that information carefully, else he or she is subject to manipulation. We must understand that truth is not perspective dependent it is objective, perspective is subject to personal bias, bigotry and self interest. Our media is never unbiased and those who claim that mantel are lying to our faces… and they know it. To believe a liar is to be willfully ignorant and therefore makes us subject to acting against our self interest. That there is even one example of reference material that promotes a false narrative, shows us that even the most reliable sources must be evaluated and checked against historic norms, the teller’s biases and our own rational self interest. To understand is to be catholic in our reading and critical in our acceptance. To do otherwise makes us a tool of the elite, and human beings are NOT tools, we are ends in and of ourselves.

Sincerely,

Banghazi and the Fall of America

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, if my government lies to me it is called politics, but if I lie to my government, it is a felony. I am held to a higher standard of action than government officials. When officials who can lie to the public with no repercussions, they have no incentive to tell the truth, especially when the truth is embarrassing or politically inconvenient. We, on the other hand, must tell the whole truth whenever we are questioned by our government, else we face heavy sanctions including jail, no matter how embarrassing, inconvenient or self incriminating. Citizens have a relationship with the government. Whenever one party to a relationship abuses the other, without consequence, the relationship is degrading. Lying is a form of abuse. When the relationship is a marital one, we have a case of spousal abuse, when the relationship is economic, we have a case of fraud or slavery, when the relationship is political, we have a case of oppression.

Thomas Jefferson said, “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” This simply means when government can do anything it pleases, because it has no fear of the reaction of the people, that government has no limit on it’s actions. When government fears the reaction of the people those actions are limited by the will of the people. Government that has no limit on it’s actions is the definition of despotic. The explanation of liberty is the limit on the actions of the government by the will of the people. Government that can lie to the people, about the most important debates of the day without consequence, is showing it has no fear of the people, but when the people are jailed for far less, we clearly have reason to fear our government… This, by Jefferson’s own statement, is tyranny.

Benghazi is a perfect example of this. As it has become clear, the lying tour of the media by Susan Rice was total fiction, told without consequence to the American people, to protect the President’s reelection. The President was derelict in his duty, not only to protect those in his staff, but when they came under attack he told the military to stand down. The attack went on for nine hours, and we are lied to again, that the military could not get assets into the area soon enough to make a difference. Now it has come to light that there were military assets available but were told to stand down. Had the few brave Navy Seals followed that order by the President’s staff, every man and woman in that CIA house, would have died in the attack. Abusing whistle blowers is only icing on the cake. The Congressional hearing will turn out to be mere window dressing, furthering the cover up and giving it legitimacy, the President will again get away with something, that if you or I did we would go to jail for.

The Fast and Furious cover up is another egregious example. Eric Holder has been proven to have lied to Congress about it, with no real repercussion, other than a toothless contempt citation. President Obama claimed he had no knowledge of the operation, that intentionally put guns in the hands of Mexican drug lords, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens and at least one American. Which the president then exploited to undermine the Second Amendment until the truth came out. When Congress tried to get documents on it the President used executive privilege. Since Executive privilege can only be used in cases of the president’s personal interactions with his staff, it’s use proves Obama had knowledge of the operation, else the use of executive privilege is itself a lie without consequence.

The complete disconnect began when Al Gore was caught blatantly violating Campaign finance laws, and his reply was, “There is no over riding legal authority…” Bill Clinton was praised by the unbiased media for lying. We were told that everyone lies about sex and that lies are a helpful social mechanism to protect hurt feelings. This puts the beginning of the down fall around 1992. So, what we have, is a government in America that is abusive, lies without consequence and is therefore, by Thomas Jefferson’s definition, tyrannical. Our government seeks to further water down the ability of the American citizenry to force our will on our government, by making millions of people, who have no real stake in the country… voters, by amnesty. The American people are lulled to sleep by the media that engage in the old sophist tactic, of changing the subject, whenever their guy gets in trouble. We are at the same place that Rome was during the reign of August Caesar. The department of Homeland security is the praetorian guard in all but name, and we pile on, pillorying anyone who rings the alarm bell.

Rome was a republic for 900 years before it became a tyranny, and was a tyranny for 150 years. Therefore, we can estimate Rome’s fall to be 17% of the republican era. America was a republic for 200 years. Using the same number, 17%, we can estimate America’s total collapse to be 34 years or so from 1992, which puts it around 2026… Time is running short and the trend is accelerating. Unless we do something about it. Demand from you representative a special prosecutor to look into Benghazi and Fast and Furious… Else, participate in the destruction of liberty in the World, perhaps for generations, what kind of villain does that make us for allowing it to happen?

Sincerely,

John Pepin

Lies, Politicians and Self Interest

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that everybody lies. Some people lie occasionally to spare the feelings of others, some lie to make themselves seem bigger than they are, some folks lie when the truth would serve them better… but the worst are people who lie to deceive others into doing damage to their self interests. Con men, scammers and politicians fall into this category. These are the people who pose the greatest threat to humanity and our future.

Lying to get others to support your self interests, at the cost to the self interests of others, is the currency of politicians who seek to be tyrants. In this the quintessential political liars are Islamofascists. They convince a young person, who is essentially good, looking to win favor from God, that the way to heaven is to commit multiple mortal sins, in God’s name. They lie to get these innocents to spend their lives and souls to propel the islamofascists into greater and greater political power, which he will then use to oppress others. The victims of the lies, are the suicide bombers who give up their immortal souls, so someone else can have worldly power over others, as well as the bombing victims themselves. Temporal power the islamofascist will misuse, as a means of satisfying their avarice, sexual lust, and their thirst for power over others.

The Islamofascists is not the only politician, who uses lies to get others to damage their self interest, to enhance the interests of the liar. We see this played out by Marxists throughout the history of communism and we also see this paradigm in play today around the World by various political leaders.

When a person or political party is caught lying once, it is generally forgiven, due to the fact it is human nature to occasionally lie. When a person or party lies constantly, in ever more preposterous ways, the wise person disregards everything the proven liar says. We see this in polls regarding the trust people in America have for those “journalists” who call themselves unbiased. They have so destroyed their credibility, that more people believe that aliens have landed on Earth, or that America never landed on the moon, than believe the unbiased media today. Their constant lying by, half truths, omissions and utter fabrications have destroyed their credibility.

In the US Presidential race we see this same thing happening. The Obama administration and their allies are engaging in ever more absurd lies to discredit Romney. One day Romney is a bully, the next he is a wimp, a week later he doesn’t pay taxes and now he is a murderer. The lies become more and more ludicrous every day. The unbiased press pick up the lies and run with them… further discrediting their brands. The US voter will, sooner or later, be so disgusted that we will exclaim our utter revulsion at the constant lies. As the lies get more shrill and insane the American people, and people around the World, will wake up to who and what those that make such absurd claims… really are and what they truly seek.

It is only common sense, that we do not listen to the incorrigible liar, especially if he is a politician. Because when a politician lies as a matter of course it is always because he has malevolent motives. Maybe to hide some defect in their character, perhaps to misdirect us from the results of their policies, or most dangerously, it is to trick us into doing profound damage to our self interests. No matter the reason, we can reliably tell that when a politician or political party engage in such tactics, they have put their own self interests above ours and the nation as a whole. Wise people protect their self interests, and don’t fall into traps set by disingenuous politicians, like the Islamofascists and others with similar agendas. But, there will always be a segment of the population that believe George Bush dynamited the levees in New Orleans and personally demolished the World trade center. Those people are beyond hope and willingly strap on the explosive vest, walk into a school… and trigger it. It is up to the rest of us to see that they don’t.

Sincerely,

John Pepin

Glittering Lies and Ugly Truths

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that people are easily deceived and difficult to enlighten. We are surrounded by this reality yet are mostly blind to it. People fall into traps every day and no one is immune. Not only are we constantly deceived but there is not a one among us who can deny it. This is the normal state of affairs when it comes to human beings. Our lives and our children’s lives are profoundly negatively affected by this truth.

The primary means a scammer uses to deceive us is by telling us a lie that we want to believe. It may be so attractive that we want it to be true to the point of warping our underlying sense of disbelief. The effective cheat will use this propensity against us. They know that we have this weak spot in us and they use it like a wedge to separate us from whatever they seek to gain. We willingly bite the bait like a fish a lure.

Reality is, more often than not, unattractive. In our ignorance we hope that reality is not true and so we disbelieve it. This is the reason enlightenment is so hard for us to grasp. True enlightenment is not soft or attractive it is hard and repulsive. We want to have goods without working for them, we want to be enlightened without embracing the spiny truth, we want respect without giving it and we want fame without consequence. This is the other side of the coin of how easily we can be deceived

Mankind has grown powerful by the scientific method yet we eschew it’s use in matters of humanity. We instead turn to false hopes given to us by scammers and con artists. We are deceived not by others as much as by ourselves. It is not the con artist that fools us, he only facilitates the process, we fool ourselves. We fail to use the scientific method when we weigh good and bad. Yet if we applied the scientific method we would quickly discern the truth and we would laugh in the liar’s face.

The scientific method uses trial and error, applies the law of reproducibility and disregards the possibility of magic, having anything to do with the outcome of a certain chemical reaction or physical process. When we apply the scientific method to our investigations of the world around us… we are enlightened. Our material welfare has been greatly enhanced by this method, which has uses other than exploring the world we live in, however.

Economics, social interactions, governmental processes, and law, are a few of the things we should be applying the scientific method to… but never do. We hate to look at the reality of the world when it comes to our personal lives and decisions. Take law for example, we never look at the logical outcome of a law, we only look at the behavior we seek to curtail when it is passed. As a result, we are constantly bombarded with unintended consequences, which require more laws to rectify, which have more unintended consequences… and so on. Leading to the overgrowing of our garden by the kudzu vine of law.

Economics is another area of human existence we fear the use of the scientific method. We have empirical evidence of what works, and what leads to human suffering, yet we usually choose the path to want and need. Moreover, it is those that claim to be scientifically minded, who espouse the means to poverty instead of the means to societal wealth. As I have shown, it is not out of evil that we do this, it is because we believe what we want to believe… and disbelieve that which we want to disbelieve. In the case of economics it is a result of what we mischaracterize as a sense of moral outrage and indignation, that we must allow freedom for those who have merit, to become wealthy, and thus we all gain a measure of wealth. It is more attractive to believe, against all historical and empirical evidence, that we can simply proclaim the poor into a state of wealth. Even though history shows us the misery and human suffering this results in… every time it is tried.

Attractive lies are more believable than ugly truth. Until we understand this fact we are doomed to visit want, misery and need on those we love most.

Sincerely,

John Pepin
