Medeival Doctors and the Economy

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that money flowing through an economy is like blood flowing in a human being. Ergo it can be compared with fluid dynamics or electricity.

Instead of looking at volume or amperage, economists should keep in mind demand vs. supply, (pressure or voltage). As well as the (resistance, pipe diameter) or regulatory friction expressed as some factor.

Modern economists are like the doctors at the birth of the modern age in medicine. They look at the body (macro economy) and see too much blood (money). Too much blood must cause ailments like inflation and unemployment. So the answer is clear. Keynes said to open a wound and drain some blood from the economy. Not too much… just enough to get the economy healthy again.

Because that is exactly what most government spending amounts to… Draining money from the economy. When did a government program ever do its job and finish? Really. Isn’t that the measure of success? To complete a job. Imagine if Ford Motor company never actually finished a car. They started millions but never actually finished one. How long would the market economy reward such incompetence?

Some economists claim that some money needs to be taken to keep inflation in check. That if the government wastes some money oh well. It keeps demand in check. (A UVM economist told me this once). Recognizing that much of government taxation and spending is a waste of money. Again, an example of, draining the body economic of “excess” money.

Others argue that money the government spends today drives demand today. Even if the money is wasted as far as the actual intentions go the money goes into someone’s paycheck. They then spend that money etc… The problem with that reasoning is in proportion. The very few who will receive and spend the largess at cost to the rest putting the money to productive use is miniscule. Especially when compared to the cost.

Not only in money taken from producers but in governmental corruption that is generated by access to money. Bureaucracy is very good at adsorbing money. Growing the corrupt bureaucracy which then require more and more from the producers. There is no end to the demand for tax money from a government that seeks to do everything. It’s like a tool that will do everything… It will, but it will do nothing well.

If these factors (volume, pressure of resistance) get too far off in the human body the circulatory system shuts down. Economies work the same way. Lately the Hindenburg effect has shown itself in the stock market twice. It is an ecclectic theory that when certain criteria are met the economy has built up tension. That tension will be relieved by a correction in the market. It has been shown to be “statistically” accurate. We’ll see if it holds this time.

Regulation and the threat of regulation have the effect of constricting the demand for money. People make good bets on things they have a good read on. That is why they always tell you to read the prospectus. The more you know about a given situation the better you can profit from it. But if there are changing or potentially changing parameters the amount that can be known shrinks. If that which can be known shrinks beyond a certain amount it becomes no longer prudent to engage in the venture. Constricting the demand for money.

Today the government is spending money like never before in an effort to jump start the economy. While at the same time they are increasing regulation in every area of life. Corporate and personal.

Why do you suppose the macro economy is running on life support?

End of Socialism?

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that the time of the progressives, socialists and communists is coming to a close. With the wide dissemination of the internet and the dramatically enhanced access to information it offers people will increasingly be lifted from the ignorance enforced by the progressives, socialists and communists. Light will shine on their philosophy.

Today the power of that faction appears to be at it’s apex. The US is controlled almost exclusively by progressives. The President and both houses of Congress have sizable majorities of progressives. Most are democrat but some are republican. The Supreme Court is at the tipping point. A few more hard leftists and the job will be done there too.

But the power of progressives, socialists and communists lays in ignorance. Not of reading writing or arithmetic but in history, economics and current events. These are the ideas that undermine progressivism. People who have not been steeped in the tea of communism and the “benefits” to mankind that it offers see the world differently.

We have our eyes open. We are pragmatic not dogmatic. Progressives, socialists and communists are dogmatic. Even as they point the finger of dogmatism at every one who disagrees with them. But they fail to see their own dogmatism.

To follow a political philosophy that has at it’s core the fact that when it gains control millions of people will have to be murdered to “protect” the revolution requires quite a bit of faith. Those egoists, people who refuse to follow the tenets of social justice and communal salvation, will have to go. They have all done it. From Vladimir Ulanoff to Pol Pot. Moreover they will always to do it when ever they get power. It is ignorance of this fact that feeds the left. Ignorance of the atrocities that they have done and pledge to do if they ever get power.

But the ignorance that feeds progressivism, communism and socialism doesn’t stop there. Every modern event must be couched in just the right terms and in the right way. Until recently the progressives have controlled the unbiased media. The have controlled the horizontal, the vertical, they have controlled what we have seen. Welcome to the outer reaches of the progressive limits. (There are none).

US collages have a plurality of progressive, socialist and communist professors. They aim at convincing every student to follow their pernicious philosophy. The fact that most don’t is a testament to common sense. But it is also a testament to the power of knowledge. Those who know the history of progressivism in the US and it’s ties to Fascist socialism will recognize the parallels today. People who understand the difference between rhetoric and truth will see through the veil of half truths the unbiased media place in front of us. Folks that have access to the information to dull the blade of ignorance are less liable to be misled. Too many of us will refuse to sit in the cave and watch pretty shadows dance on the wall.

That is why it is imperative the progressive, communists and socialists control the internet. They must keep us ignorant, angry and dependent. Their power depend on it. The Elite that run the show on the left know this. If people knew the truth they would loose their power in a heart beat.

Fortunately people are waking up. The actions of the progressives are enlightening the people to the reality of who they are. The mask has been lifted a little. It should be totally removed. Then the people would recoil in horror at who they have voted for and supported in the past.

When that happens the progressives will have breathed their last breath, The socialists will have disheartened the last soul and the tyranny of communism will evaporate from the Earth. All this good from one thing… Light shining on reality.

Didn’t someone else say that evil grows in darkness and withers in the light?

We Judge Others By Ourselves

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that people judge others by themselves. The best template we have to place others in is the one we ourselves have forged… And it is the one we know best.

That is why a thief is the most afraid of being stolen from. A liar always believes everyone is lying to them and an adulterer always is the most afraid of having someone cheat on them. It is in our nature. We all have faults and we project them on others.

That is one of the reasons that the uber rich are progressive if not actually communists. They believe that everyone is as heartless as they are. To them it is impossible to believe that another person would do a virtuous thing. Then turn around and do another. There has to be a catch. They themselves always have a hook. Basically they are the avatar of the man Thrasymachus and Nietzsche believed in.

Like Nietzsche’s book The Will to Power. (A dark book that chills the soul to read). Nietzsche is smart enough to know the tribulations en route and the end of the road that he proposes. Yet he goes ahead and proposes it. The path and the end is chaos. A state of perpetual war… man against man. Victory to the cleverest, strongest or most political. Mankind would very quickly shed the accoutrements that are given to us by our social nature. Like housing, ready access to food, transportation, heated homes, etc…

People of this ilk often become extremely rich. But not all extremely rich people are of this ilk, i.e. sociopaths. The ones that are however have the ability to sow much mischief in the world. Placing all mankind in the same box as themselves they can only see total government to curb mankind’s total greed. They have no concept that others have no desire for riches beyond what makes them comfortable. Beyond that to make one comfortable further riches only serve to gain more security. But at an acceleratingly diminishing rate of return. At some point the wealthy Neitzchian would get a better return, (in improvement in his or her lot in life), by investing it in science research. The security and improvement in the standard of living would accrue to him as well as society. And could possibly lengthen his or her life span.

What about Power? The ultimate goal of the self centered. Power rover others. Power to coerce action at another’s expense simply for the satisfaction of some whim. Like old king Di Xin, he, reportedly, had a pool filled with wine and ruled by his whim… Once Caesar and some friends were riding past a small filthy French town. His friends said to Caesar, “How would you like to live in such a wretched place?” To which Caesar replied, “I would rather rule there that serve in Rome.” Later Caesar overturned the Republican system that had served Rome well for most of a millennium.

If this is the template that you judge others by… Isn’t your view going to be skewed? If I am a self centered despot in waiting… I will think everyone else is too. When I get power I will gear my input on law to reflect my view of humanity. (Based on myself).

These are the Elite. The ten percent of any group that will take control. (The dross floats to the top). Rarely is someone put into power who did not seek it. Numa Pompey is the only one who comes to mind. (And that tale is probably more myth than reality). So When almost everyone who writes law is an utterly self centered, despot in waiting, is it hard to explain why we have law that is always written with an eye to serve some faction?

Lately every law, that is written and passed in the USA, is expressly for a faction against the overall good. Take the “Health Care overhaul”. It has as it’s purpose to redistribute wealth. From those that have health care to those that don’t. The actual reason the people don’t have it is never addressed. Except a background hum that they are poor. (The poor already had healthcare under Medicaid). Reality was never allowed into the debate.

The result will be much higher cost of healthcare for every American. Lower standard of care for normal Americans. A higher rate of structural unemployment… Among other negative effects. The Elite however will have no diminishments in their health care. They have a separate system. The rest of us are forced into the government “choices” by law. The Elite are not.

With Elitist theory, as I have explained, we can clearly see why…

But, I am told, there is no need of a NUMA.

Individual Sovereignty

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that the magnitude of the concept of individual sovereignty is very underappreciated. This is a relatively new philosophy. It was codified into law under the US Constitution only two hundred years ago. One of the reasons most philosophies trend tyrannical is that they place sovereignty at a higher level.

Philosophies that espouse Groupism place sovereignty at the group level. They are more concerned with the group, (race, sexual preference, class, etc…). They sample, categorize and place a person in the appropriate group. Then treat them as such. Groups are easy to handle conceptually. But, when the concepts that are envisioned by the groupist are implemented, they always result in the lowering of all of society. Be it economically, politically, or religiously.

Because when sovereignty is raised back to a level higher than the individual… the individual resents it. And, moreover, is right to do so. It is the individual that feels the bite of cold in the weather. Pain is individually sovereign. The motivation to it should be as well.

An unbiased observer would look at the state of affairs on our planet and come to the conclusion that, not only human beings are given individual sovereignty but, the beasts in the fields and forests do as well. If this is true, that even the beasts in the fields and forests have individual sovereignty… and there is a God, then it is the observed will of God that we have individual sovereignty.

Witness that every time sovereignty is moved from the individual to the group, King, President for life, city state, nation, etc… it is done so by violence or the implicit threat of violence. The violence is couched in the most pleasing terms. The greater good and all that. Even as, for the greater good, a group of human beings are exterminated… Under the aegis of anti racism.

What is the font of the American economic growth machine? Some argue that it is the diversity of the American people. But averaged growth by decade has been fairly steady from it’s inception. Even when diversity was very low… Hessians and British… Making diversity’s impact on economic growth less definite.

Some argue the American political system. They wouldn’t be far from wrong. But they would still miss the target. It isn’t the system itself but the societal myth that the system’s birth set up. Namely that sovereignty is at the individual level… Think for a moment what kind of incentives this sets up in a society that adopts it.

If you, as an individual, believe that you will be able to keep what you earn. It is a positive incentive to earn. If you believe that your real property is safe from seizure it is an incentive to own real property. If you believe that your business will not be shaken down it is an incentive to own a business… The list of positive incentives is endless. Positive incentives that work on the individual level to improve the lives of everyone.

What about societal debt some might argue. Doesn’t everyone owe a societal debt due to our social nature? The groupist likes to trip us up here. This line of argument is rife with opportunities to change the subject. Never arguing one subject to conclusion. They seek to lure the individualist’s bulldozer into their groupist swamp of argument alteration..

There is a good response however. We make up our societal debt by being productive. Beyond that society can ask nothing. If we choose to give to this or that it is our choice… we are sovereign. Our success is societies success. As long as a person or corporation is not actively holding people down, (monopoly, negative externalities, wages and hiring is based on merit, etc…) their success should be cheered. Because it is societies success. In fact societies that have individual sovereignty have higher rates of alms giving than societies that have sovereignty at a higher level. Universally.

There is a belief that groups have wisdom. Markets have been set up to predict everything from North Korea’s next violent outburst to who will win the Super Bowl. By tapping into the wisdom of large unbiased groups motivated to be right. (The motivation is supplied by a monetary payout if the individual is correct). Leads to strikingly accurate predictions.

This is from the individual acting on his or her own behalf. The individual motivated to make the correct decision, in the aggregate, are correct more often than not. This holds true solving for many factors.

But when the group of sovereign individual decision makers is turned into a single person, or smaller group, (sovereignty is moved to a higher level), the likely hood of a good decision is lowered. Especially when you make the incentives, for the deciding group or person… pernicious.

When a society taps into this vast resource of potential it is setting up a structure that is geared to win. One where the nap of the fur is up. Not down. All it need do is build the concept of individual sovereignty into their society and governmental structure.

But that is harder than it looks…

The Elite have to lower their power…

That is rarely done.

The Congenital Nature of Government

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that the congenital nature of government is evil. But before we can consider that government is evil we must first consider what definition of evil we will use.

In this instance we are not arguing that government is demonic. Or that it is controlled by some supernatural malevolent force. In this instance we are using secular definitions of evil only. The malevolent force is human.

Hsun Ching argued the congenital nature of Man is evil. His definition of evil was that evil is chiefly characterized by profound selfishness and self centeredness. He went on in his logic to claim the goodness in us is a learned trait. His definition will work quite well for our usage. In the case of the congenital nature of government we will define evil as pure self centeredness. Without regard to others.

How is government born? Almost every government that has ever come into existence has done so by violent means. Non violent revolutions are very infrequent and often are short lived before some strong man takes over… violently. People not used to liberty quickly vote it away for mere baubles.

Government is born of violence and government exists by violence. That creational violence is always followed by reprisals for past violence. Government uses violence so much we don’t even notice. Every police action is violent at it’s soul. Government sponsored violence. Violence done to the individual for some perceived societal good. Seldom are other enticements offered by government. Violence is the main tool in government’s tool box.

What if you or I refuse to pay taxes? If we are adamant about it we will have our homes assaulted in the middle of the night by armed government agents. Like in New Hampshire. Violent means will be used on our person to extract money for government to use to some other evil end. Committing violence on some people on the other side of the world.

Even when government seems to be benign… it is evil. Government will “help” this or that group that the Elite want to garner political favor. How does government do this? By violently taking the property of one and giving it to another.

If it is wrong for an individual to put a gun in my face and force me to give money or property… why is it good for government to do worse? One black dot being seen as black but many black dots seen as white. Are our collective eyesights that bad?

Those that advocate for total government, progressives, communists and socialists, always want a draft. They love the idea of coerced servitude to government in the form of military service. They decry a volunteer force. Because a general requirement for military service gives them colossal powers. Power to defer politically connected sons and daughters from service (to political ends). Power to threaten anyone with forcing their son or daughter into military service if they don’t do as ordered. There is no end to the mischief that can be done when the Elite have a general draft.

Moreover I never understood and still don’t, how a person can have a pitifully low opinion of his fellow man. Such that they believe that he should not be trusted with arms. His free speech should be limited by a fairness doctrine, his decisions should be made for him by government, and that he is so corrupt he cannot be trusted in any way without government oversight… can possibly believe that people in government can be trusted at all? How does that jibe? If all people are corrupt, stupid and menacing, how can you believe that people can be trusted with unlimited power in government? These people always protect the caprice of power. They defend corruption in government but decry it in the private sector.

Government holds others to a much higher standard then it does itself… in every way. Not only in outright corruption but in personal behavior as well. Politicians daily get away with personal conduct that would land you or I in jail. Running a prostitution ring from one’s apartment for example. Ignorance is no excuse under the law… unless you write that law.

What is more selfish than holding others to a much higher standard than oneself? Therefore, what, is more evil?

Recent Supreme Court Ruling About Corporate Political Spending

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that the way the unbiased media are playing the recent Supreme Court ruling, that the government cannot regulate anyone’s free speech, is despicable.

The first amendment reads as follows;

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The first Amendment to the US Constitution is all about, explicitly, denying the government the ability to regulate speech or religion. Especially political speech… “and to petition the Government”

I don’t see in this amendment anyplace that says that if enough people hate a group that the government then can regulate that group’s speech. My take is that the text regulates government… Not people or groups of people.

What is not prohibited from government by this amendment is that government can demand openness. Anyone who airs a political commercial should clearly state who is paying for and who made the commercial… Things take on a sour taste when they are done in the dark. But when things are done in the light of day they are much more sweet. Shining a light on what is now done in the dark can only improve the state of affairs.

Anyone who doesn’t think that the evil corporations didn’t affect elections, lawmaking and judicial appointments with their money, before this Supreme Court ruling, are innocents. They are innocent to politics and human nature. Where there is money and there is power that money will drawn to that power like water to low ground. If the overland rout is blocked it will go underground. Undermining society and societal structures.

This ruling should close the underground channels and place them in the top of the ground for us all to see. If we like what we see we will show our approval. If we are displeased we will show our disapproval. But the point is, it will be in front of our eyes for us to decide. We will be able to see the dealings.

The media are using the class envy argument. They are duplicit with Hollywood in vilifying corporations. Think about the villain in almost every adventure movie you have ever seen. Most are corporations. Some are power mad factions within a governmental structure but most are corporate heads. This impresses our subconscious that corporations are bad. The unbiased media are playing our emotions like a harmonica.

But what is a corporation? It is a group of people who have freely associated to do some business. They provide good paying jobs. Places to invest our capital for when we retire and they provide a heavy tax base to run government. They are not good or bad. They simply are. They inflict us with negative externalities and they bless us with positive externalities. Some are good and some are bad. But, unlike governments, corporations are subject to the market. (Unless government intervenes and warps the market by the use of underground money).

I believe that we are much smarter than the Elite explicitly give us credit. If we seem to be ignorant enough to let our politicians get away with too much it is because we are engaged in our own affairs. We are busy. We have to take time and resources away from productive labor for our personal good to keep up on political affairs. We would prefer that the Elite simply ran the nation so that we can run our own affairs. Unfortunately the Elite cannot be trusted. History, ancient through recent, proves this over and over.

So if we have access to the information we will make the right choices. People are cagy when they see their advantage and disadvantage. Corporations can only affect elections and such, aboveboard, if their arguments have merit. That is what the Elite are afraid of. The Elite always seek to limit debate. Close avenues of argument and vilify the other side. Because the Elite are arguing for the people to do damage to their own self interests. To have open debate about such a thing would allow the people to see the truth. No one hurts themselves. Not the poor, the middle element or the rich. We would stomp down the progressive plans in an instant if we could hear all side of the argument.

The Progressive Elite can never let that happen.

Misplaced Compassion without Compassionate Action

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Dear Friends,

It seems to me that one thing we have too much of in this world is misplaced compassion and not enough compassionate actions.

We constantly hear about the “plight” of this or that group. They have no chance… the cards are stacked against them. If only the world was more this or that. Which always turns out to be, a poorly thought out group of laws, thought up by some foolishly altruistic, egoistic and pollyannish committee. The imposition that is supposed to reverse the negative stereotypes and some actual stumbling hazards when enacted make them worse. Everything government seeks to help… it hurts.

The reality is that if government want to help people in various groups to succeed all it need do is get out of the way. No group of people are inferior to others. How hubristic to think otherwise. I would venture to say that ALL people who hold that there are some that are superior, better, have breeding. caste or whatever… classify themselves in the superior group. So to codify in law that a group certain is in some way in need of government assistance is to say in so many words that group is inferior. Thinking of incentives, what are the incentives to people who do and do not find themselves in this or that group?

Yet those that advocate the most governmental intervention are personally the least generous… statistically speaking. People judge others by themselves. We are all guilty of this little sin. When we feel a certain way about something we expect that others will feel the same way. So when people are not personally giving by nature they believe that others are as close as they are. Yet the plight of the needy is personal to them. Their greed makes their want and need for money paramount. So they identify with the group that they are told has none, (nothing is as scary to them). Seeing others as willfully ignorant of the plight of “the needy” they demand government action.,, To act themselves would be abhorrent.

Combine the two and the outcome is to keep some people poor while feeling good about it… The government is helping.
