Psychopaths Ply Glittering Lies

Sunday, March 19th, 2017

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, most people would rather believe a glittering lie than an ugly truth, even when they know it is a lie! That is why tyranny will never go away. Those who seek tyranny, Thrasymachus’ “Great Men,” intelligent psychopaths, know that a glittering lie will gather the majority of people, even after it is proven a lie, so their mouths are full of glittering lies, lying to whomever they need to manipulate at the moment. When I was young I often fell for glittering lies. The less life a person has under their belt, the easier it is to convince them a glittering lie is truth, so much so that they will gladly lay down their life for it. There is noting a psychopath likes any better than manipulating someone into doing themselves and their interests great harm. Combine the two, people so deluded they willingly lay down their lives for some glittering lie, with people who get off on manipulating people into harming themselves, and you have the State.

It is just human nature to prefer a glittering lie. How many untold number of people have been caught by a glittering lie? Just those who bought into the glittering lie that you can run up your credit card account an live like a king number in the millions. We are awash with glittering lies, con men use them all the time. Whenever we are told something we want to believe, that a house’s roof can hold it’s foundation off the ground for instance, our minds say no, but we may so fervently want it to be true we will believe it with all out heart, as if by some magic that will make it so. Every snake oil salesman plied that trade.

It is undeniable that the men throughout history that are remembered as “Great Men” were universally psychopaths. From Alexander the great and Tamerlane to Hitler and Stalin, great men have been only too happy to slaughter countless human beings to get what they want. Cyrus the great was discovered to be the grandson of the king, rather than a sheep herder’s son, by the fact he was a psychopath. Coriolanus leading a Volscian army stopped to slaughter every man woman a child in a Latin town, while on his way to attack Rome, for no other reason than they were long time friends of Rome. The quality of the people Thrasymachus describes as the Great Men, are just psychopaths… manipulative, murdering and heartless. These are the people who are con men, killers, thieves, bureaucrats, prime ministers and Presidents.

History is replete with stories of people killing not only themselves, for a glittering lie, but even their own family as well! The killing fields of Cambodia is such an obvious example I have to mention it. Those children, and make no mistake that is what they were, children, fell for the glittering lie of a socialist utopia, all they had to do was eliminate the bad genes and human nature would transform into the Marxist ideal of one for all. Of course the grand experiment killed so many people the Marxists had to stop shooting people, reserving their bullets for escapees, and instead use clubs and bread bags to kill those with bad genes and ideas. Thirteen year old boys would go down a line of bound men in their forties and fifties, clubbing each in the back of the head, while thirteen year old girls would go down a different row of tied and helpless people, putting bread bags over their heads, one at a time until they stopped flinching, then move to the next.

The dross rises to the top. Since it is in the nature of psychopaths to love manipulating others, feeling themselves utterly superior to the lot of Mankind they naturally gravitate to government, either the hidden cave of bureaucracy where they can ply their machinations under the anonymity of the bureaucracy, or to pull the levers of power themselves. The most dangerous are the ones who will become the “Great Men.” They are the ones who seek to be the tyrant, to that end they will use any power at hand to achieve that goal. Morality has no meaning to a psychopath and so they will manipulate everyone around them until they have that power, then they will use it, visiting death, famine and suffering on humanity, in measure to their, “Greatness.”

Without changing human nature itself or coming up with a way to control that quality of humanity, tyranny will never go away. Psychopaths will always exist and the qualities of being a psychopath will not change, people will rather follow a glittering lie than an ugly truth, so unless our education system teaches our kids to recognize a glittering lie and ugly truth, and act accordingly, else change the role of government itself. Both are daunting because psychopaths are already well entrenched in government and have been since the first king. The only thing that has changed the nature of humanity, to follow an ugly truth and turn away from a glittering lie, is the capitalist mindset, which is why the elite so despise capitalism. It is not in their interests to change the way children are taught, unless it is to dumb them down further, nor is it in their interests to change the role of government, it is in their interests to keep us believing in glittering lies and turning away from ugly truths… and so, tyranny will always be with us.

Humanity’s Tendency to Hate the Truth

Monday, October 10th, 2016

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, people love the man who tells them two plus two equals three, women will throw themselves at him, and men will die for him, but the man who tells people two plus two equals four… that man will be criticized and hated, spat upon and vilified, especially after he is proven correct. History is full of examples of both. This quality of human nature is as pervasive as it is destructive, since every aspect of the human condition depends on correct information, incorrect information leading to mistakes, mistakes that cost pain, economic loss, loss of freedom and lost standing, this penchant to prefer lies should have been weeded out of our psyche millennia ago, yet it persists… to our great detriment. If we really want to advance it is incumbent on us to actively counter this tendency in ourselves.

In The Republic, Glaucon asked Socrates, is it better to be so just, one is perceived unjust, or perceived just when one is unjust? Glaucon went on, the man who is perceived as unjust, even if just, will be hated, while the man who is perceived as just, even if he is unjust, will be lauded. What Glaucon meant was that the perception of the masses is more important to the individual than reality. In this example, the just man, the truth teller, is hated, scorned and put upon, while the unjust man, the liar, is glorified, raised up and helped in all his unjust endeavors. This historical anecdote shows the tendency of people to love a liar and hate a truth teller is at least as old as Socrates.

After a long diet of such cultural, social and economic poison, you would think people would long for someone, anyone, who will tell them even a hint of the truth. Sadly that isn’t the case. Edmund Burke correctly predicted the outcome of the French revolution. He also provided the reasons why it would end in bloodshed. He was vilified, hated and condemned for telling the truth, and when he was proven right, he was hated even more for being right. Glenn Beck is another example of someone who told the truth and is hated for it. Now that Beck’s predictions have come true, proving his hypothesis, Beck is loathed almost universally. The more one tells an ugly truth the more that person is hated.

This is because people want a glittering lie to be true. In this we will ignore facts and instead turn to emotion. People so wanted the Arab spring to usher in a new era of peace, prosperity and freedom to the Middle East, when Beck told the truth, those people who had invested so much emotional capital, turned on him with vitriol not even given a monster. When Beck turned out to be right, the Arab Spring so loved by people the world over turned out to usher in a new era of bloodshed, genocide and tyranny, all that emotional capital was destroyed. Instead of blaming themselves for believing the lie, people turned their hatred to Beck, for being right.

This is because of cognitive dissonance. That is the psychological theory that we think and feel in ways consistent with our past thoughts and actions. If I ridicule someone who has a different belief than I, then that person is proven to be right, my past actions will force me, subconsciously, to dislike that person. My past belief forces me to feel this way, because otherwise I would have been wrong in my ridicule, and to ridicule someone undeservedly would make me a bad person, since in my mind I can never be a bad person, therefore that other person had to have deserved it… so I hate him. Our cognition of ourselves cannot be dissonant from our self perception.

Since we so want to believe in pixy dust, when someone tells us pixy dust is nothing but dust, we become angry. When they are proven right, we become enraged, because we have been proven to be stupid or bad. Since in my own mind I cannot be stupid or bad, that other person must be stupid or bad, justifying my original belief. Sadly, this tendency has not served us well in the past and certainly will not in the future. Since it is impossible to force change on others, we can only change ourselves, we must self examine, look at how we tend to believe glittering lies while condemning ugly truths, so that we and our children, will not have to suffer so that we can feel better about ourselves. If enough of us do, liars will be vilified and truth tellers will be glorified, reversing a negative trend that has visited so much evil on the human race.

Sincerely,

John Pepin

Democracy’s Achilles Heel

Thursday, March 3rd, 2016

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, people would rather believe fiction than the truth, especially in politics. Human beings have an innate ability to convince themselves of absurdities. Of course to believe a fiction over the truth is the path to tyranny, poverty and violence, but people believe what they want to believe, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This is why democracy is so self destructive. Democracy within a republic is tempered but the elite always eventually become an aristocracy. As time goes on the people’s self delusion coupled with the elite’s misdirection combine to destroy any human government. We see this happening today with the election of Barak Obama and now the rise of Donald Trump.

Politicians become entrenched and hold power their whole lives just like the aristocracy of old. Like an aristocracy a ruling class rises up to hold power and pass it to their children. The Bush dynasty is one example but around the world political power is passed from father to son and daughter like an inheritance. Democracy is supposed to prevent such dynastic political power but instead democracy fosters it. One characteristic of any aristocracy is that they will evolve to oligarchy. They stop ruling for the benefit of the nation and start ruling for their own narrow self interests. The national interests are undermined by both a political class that has become aristocratic and then oligarchical.

An election is basically a beauty contest and in any beauty contest substance takes a back seat to appearance. In any beauty contest how the girl looks in a bikini is more important than her research into cancer. A political beauty contest is no different. A philosopher once said, put a beautiful man at a podium, let him speak with eloquence and a commanding voice and no matter the drivel he spouts, he will be called a genius, put another man, give him a drooping eye, high pitched voice and let spittle run from his mouth, and no matter the genius of his words he will be ridiculed a fool…

Empty catch phrases become a replacement for hard policy. Politicians understand the fact that people would rather believe a glittering lie rather than an ugly truth. Ugly truths require thought and energy while glittering lies delight the mind and require no commitment whatsoever. A simple mindless catchphrase like, “hope and change” can mean anything to anyone. To one it means restoration of constitutional principles and to another it means Marxism. The phrase’s definition depends on the listener, not the content, and so is mind candy without substance, which fits perfectly with our ability to convince ourselves of absurdities.

In the physical world self delusion quickly brings consequences. Jump from a cliff in an attempt to fly and it quickly leads to a horrible death, the consequences are immediate, but in politics, the consequences can be held off for a long time. It takes years of bad regulations to destroy an economy, years of gradually increasing intrusions to create tyranny and years of morality corroded by perversity to create social chaos. All of which are the results of self delusion of the electorate.

To believe what you want rather than what is, is a sure path to economic destruction, governmental tyranny and societal upheaval. You might want utopia but in Greek utopia means nowhere. Real solutions don’t come from catchphrases they take real work and sacrifice. We may want some hansom, articulate politician with a deep voice to solve all our problems, but that is the surest way to making those problems much much worse. Moreover, by falling to the same self delusion, over and over, we install over us a new aristocracy, with all the negative baggage that comes with an aristocracy. We have deluded ourselves for a very long time now and the consequences are becoming manifested, isn’t it time to stop believing in modern absurdities and start believing in genuine truth?

Sincerely,

John Pepin

Glittering Lies and Hubris

Monday, September 14th, 2015

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, many people have a sense of superiority because they refuse to see what is right in front of them, instead believing a glittering lie. By their very nature a glittering lie is easier to believe than an ugly truth. A glittering lie is crafted so it catches the eye, tempts the mind and wets the appetite while an ugly truth is unappealing, the mind recoils at it and the stomach turns when it is said. In this way those who spread glittering lies catch so many people in their net. Of course when a glittering lie is questioned you can rely on those spreading it to attack the person making the argument instead of the argument, this is because it is a lie and so cannot stand the scrutiny of reason. Another sure fire way to spot a glittering lie is by asking yourself, “who will benefit?” If the answer is the person making the allegation, and it will cost you handsomely… it is probably a lie. To fall for a glittering lie is the easiest thing to do, many have and met with catastrophe for it, will you?

Human history is just a series of people falling for glittering lies. The German people fell for a glittering lie in the 1930s, the American people fell for a glittering lie in the same decade, the French fell for a glittering lie in the 1790s, the people of Cambodia in 1975, and the list goes on and on. The people fell for the lie, then realized too late it was a lie, then lived through horrors, economic hardships and unimagined violence as a result. A glittering lie is never told for the benefit of the people, no, it is told so some villain can seize power over the people. Any time a villain gets power over people he or she uses it. The result is never equality, a better environment, prosperity or peace, the result is always the opposite.

During the time the people are actively falling for the lie, those who have swallowed the hook have a sense of righteousness. They look down their noses at those idiots who are too dull to see the glitter and stand amazed at their own intelligence, acumen and open mindedness. Those who try to call attention to inconsistencies are hated, and when they are proven right, they become despised. Take the example of Edmund Burke. History proved him correct about the eventual result of the French Revolution, which made those who fell for the glittering lie loathe him all the more. No one likes someone who is right when they themselves are wrong, it proves the other’s greater acumen, intelligence and open mindedness, to hate that is human nature.

People who tell glittering lies always appeal to the emotions, but a lie is best when it contains bits of truth, so by combining emotion with a little truth, they make their lies appear to be obvious truths. Hitler told the German people such a lie, he appealed to their emotions in the slogan, “Strength through joy,” and the superiority of the German people, the super race… He spoke to their recent economic hardships by claiming the planned economy would give them prosperity, and he connected with the German idea of the Volk. When Winston Churchill said Nazism was a threat, he was drummed out of office, called a Luddite and spent years on the desert. Once he was proven right, the British people realized they needed him and elected him to office. When the war was over however, they summarily drummed him back out of office, because while they knew they needed him during the war, that he had been right all along made him hated by the new class who had been wrong.

The planned economy is another such glittering lie. Just as it failed in the French Revolution, USSR, Cambodia, China and everywhere else it has been tried, those who shill for it, never tire of it and ignore the tremendous human suffering it has brought into the world, and go on to claim it is inevitable. Those who have been proponents of the planned economy have been lionized regardless of the atrocities they have wrought, Che Guevara, Lenin, Trotsky, Marx, and a whole host of college professors and deans. Those who disagree are attacked personally and are marginalized. John Maynard Keynes is a economic giant even today, after his theories have led to successive bubbles, while Frederick Hayek is still wandering in the desert of economic theory. Keynes told a glittering lie while Hayek told an ugly truth.

Look at the vitriol Christianity is showered with today by the new class. They despise Christianity, all the more when it is proven right about an issue, be it the atrocity of abortion on demand, Pope John Paul’s stand against socialism, miracles or any number of issues. Those atheists who tell the glittering lie that Christianity is evil, always point to some atrocity someone who called him or herself a Christian did, hundreds of years ago, that was in direct contravention of Christian doctrine, principles and Jesus himself would find revolting. Some even justify the present genocide against Christians in the Middle East, as deserving, because of colonialism, antisemitism and the dark ages. Despite their own antisemitism, colonialist intentions and despotic policies, policies that are exactly what they claim Christians did wrong! While they point an accusatory finger at Christianity, for what it doesn’t say, three point back at them for what they do and intend. What the atheists who turn a blind eye to Christian genocide are really arguing, is that the innocent little 9 year old girl deserves a daily gang rape, it is just, since people she never met, is not related to, acted unchristian like and lived hundreds of years ago… did.

Those that believe the glittering lie will say, the science is settled, history has spoken, it is justice, it is inevitable and call it historical responsibility, etc… they will personally attack anyone who points out the inconsistencies as being Luddites, unable to grasp the intricacies, the argument is too subtle and dull witted, along with a whole host of pejoratives, withheld for those who apply logic to a glittering lie. Those who start and further a glittering lie always stand to gain power over the people if their lies are accepted. Just as today’s global warming alarmists stand to gain total control over the economy, our lives and gain power that historical despots could only dream of. To see a glittering lie for what it is, requires an open mind, probing logic and an eye for inconsistencies, that so few human beings are able to do these things and stand up to the personal attacks, smears and laughter of those who have fallen for the lie, is why our history is littered with human suffering.

The Progressive Reaction to the Attack in Texas Says More About Progressives than Terrorists…

Wednesday, May 6th, 2015

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, the recent attack on a free speech rally in Texas and more importantly, the reaction of the progressive unbiased media about it, show the depths progressives are willing to go to forward their agenda of total societal, economic and cultural collapse. Sounds nuts to say progressives seek the collapse of our civilization eh? It might… if you never listen to their rhetoric, observe their actions or understand the historic results of their policies, sadly, most people don’t. As I have written before, most people would rather believe a glittering lie, than an ugly truth, and many will actively try to shut up those who speak an ugly truth. So what we have is a people who are unwilling or perhaps unable, (due to the absurdly indoctrinating school system), to comprehend the very real danger our elite pose not only to us, but to our very civilization.

The progressives in media maintain a constant diatribe vilifying the victims of Islamofascist attacks for a decade now. Britain denies Pamela Geller a visa, because they claim her message is dangerous, but the message of Islamofascists… calling for the violent overthrow of Britain and the West, the subjugation and eventual extermination of Christians, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists, isn’t? Today the call has gone out that those in Garland had it coming, which is essentially the same as claiming a rape victim had it coming, because she wore a short skirt. They demand we must not criticize those who openly avow the slaughter of Christians and the destruction of the West, and call for climate change deniers to be jailed for their opinions, which is clearly a direct assault on free speech, all the while proclaiming their love of free speech! Anyone who claims others cannot criticize a philosophy, by definition, must be allied with that philosophy, and so they too must also want those measures. Their rhetoric tells more about them and their intentions, than all the articles ever written, if only people would actually listen and comprehend their words.

Fabian socialists have as their foundational philosophy, that the world needs to be heated to the point of melting down, so they can reform it in a way that more suits their desires. That is not hyperbole but their own doctrine! I ask you… what would heat the world to the point of melting more than the resulting clash of religion, culture and society, the Islamofascists, (and progressives) advocate? The modern progressive movement is based on the Fabian socialist model. They don’t believe in the revolution to usher in socialism, which is where they break ranks from the Marxists, but a slow progress to socialism. They care nothing that socialism has always resulted in millions of deaths by starvation, death squads, and war. In their minds, the ends justify the means, moreover, most don’t believe that socialism has ever really been tried. The bloody history of the twentieth Century be damned.

The rhetoric from progressives in the media, government and academia are uniform in their condemnation of western values, western economics and western history. They despise our morality and attack it in every way and at every chance. To be ignorant of that requires a person be intentionally blind to what is right in front of them. Progressives hate free speech, but know they cannot openly say it, so they hide their intentions by saying, they love free speech but… you can’t offend certain groups. They love freedom but, it has its limits, they love the poor and hate the wealthy, even though they are the wealthy and their policies create more poor, free republics are run by imperialists and empires are run by freedom loving tyrants… the list of newspeak is endless. Their duplicitous rhetoric would make INGSOC blush.

Most people only want to live their lives in peace and make a buck or two to save for old age. Most are too busy to really observe what is actually happening around them, and so, whenever someone tastes an ugly truth, they spit it out and when someone else offers them glittering lies, they gobble them down. Glittering lies are like lead oxide however, it tastes sweet, but is poison. Moreover, to believe those ugly truths requires action, and who has time for that? What truth could be more ugly, than to hear the elite actually seek the destruction of the western way of life, to be replaced with a world wide socialist tyranny?

Those in the media that calls itself unbiased, and progressives in all political parties, love to claim anyone who listens to their words, comprehends the results of their actions and understands the historical precedents of their policies, is a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist. Yet they make the most absurd conspiracy theories up, like Hillary Clinton’s vast right wing conspiracy, conservatives hate the poor, anyone who disagrees with them are haters, the Koch brothers are evil, aliens started life on Earth, etc… Progressives have the most insane ideas, and if you think of it, wouldn’t the ideas of anyone who seeks to destroy our civilization, the civilization that has resulted in the most prosperity for the most people, unprecedented technological growth, coupled with the most liberty the world has ever known… have to be nuts?

Sincerely,

John Pepin

Free Will

Monday, September 17th, 2012

Dear Friends,

It seems to me, the gift of free will, is both a blessing and a curse for us. It is self evident… we are given free will, and that free will comes from God. Our free will is the font of our virtuous desire for liberty and our iniquitous wish to control others. It is through free will that we created the World we live in, and our free will is the source of all that is good and bad. This is an important concept to understand if we want to create a better World for our children to live in. If we get it wrong however, the World we create, will be devoid of free will and may take centuries or millenia to recapture.

Many argue that God should make everything good. That it is his duty to fix all the problems in the World, like poverty, disease, famine and tyranny. But they don’t go all the way with their logic. If God were to fix even one of these things it would make God a tyrant. Look at out original state. God made Mankind free of law, compulsion and ethos. We have imposed them on ourselves. As Carneades said, “mankind imposed a set of laws and moors on itself out of necessity. Because people, being like animals, each seeking his or her own good, make true justice impossible. For a man to be truly just he must do damage to his own self interest…”

God also gave us, avarice, jealousy and ego. These are what makes us so willing to impose our wants and desires on others. These are the reasons all evil is in the World. All sin comes from these emotions. Stealing from avarice, lying from jealousy and from ego comes cruelty. To counter these negative inclinations, God also gave us, compassion, a sense of justice and love. These emotions create all that is good in the World… but can be twisted to serve evil.

To remove poverty God would also have to remove free will. Free will is the source of poverty, in not only the modern World, but the ancient one as well. For God to remove disease, would also require the destruction of free will, since most all disease is due to our own actions. IE. uncleanliness, engaging in dangerous activities, thoughtless commingling and venturing out when we are sick. To remove tyranny from the planet, would certainly eliminate free will, for it is free will that brings a tyrant to power. We seek leisure, safety and control over others lives and property, it is these desires that are why tyranny exists in the World.

Yet God allows evil of our own making to exist in the World. Why? Because to eliminate them would eliminate free will. Therefore, it is clearly true that God considers free will, more important than out comfort and safety. God must hold free will, as one of the highest goods… if not the highest good. Since free will is a profound source of wickedness in the World and God allows it.

It is free will that provides the driving force in our lives… to live in liberty. We all, no matter our culture, ethos, race or upbringing, want to live in freedom. Our culture may impel us to disallow others to be free, but we all want freedom in our own lives… it is others we argue, that should be subjugated. This duality of concept, that creates a friction in our societies, renders no man truly free.

Any system of government, religion or ethos, that allows men and women free will, is human hearted and in line with God’s will. As I have shown, if God believes that free will is the highest good then any system that uses pain of death to compel people to do, believe or think in a certain way, is antithetical to God’s will. Such a system will not be blessed no matter how powerful or wealthy. Power and wealth being merely human metrics of good. They fall far short of the role God has for us and our individual salvation. However, even by these secular measures of good, a system that allows free will, is blessed.

If we look at the most prosperous society in the history on Mankind, we see that it is Western culture. Western culture, buttressed by the Christian doctrine, that has expressly given homage to free will. Slavery as a system, was condemned and finally outlawed in the West, due to our father’s and mother’s moral outrage, at the taking of another’s free will by force. No other society in the history of Mankind has done this. It was Western society that eliminated the dread diseases from our midst. Western love of free will that produced the concept of a constitution, as a contract between the rulers and the ruled, limiting the power of the Elite, for the first time ever. The Free market and competition, which are a reflection of free will, have created incredible wealth, a prosperity that is so pervasive, it was unimaginable only a few centuries ago. All the good that has flowed from this recognition, of the role of free will in the lives of people, are blessings from God on the World. Yet, even the Western civilizations have fallen short of our own ideals, due to our egos, avarice and jealousy. No one is immune to the congenital nature of Man.

Today, the paradigm of human hearted religion, that has served us so well for so long, is being overturned by people that despise God, and the free will of others. We are increasingly being subjected to ever more intrusive regulation imposed by unelected bureaucrats. The Constitution that protected our liberty, so well for so long, is being rewritten to control us, instead of the Elite, as it was intended. The Constitution is called a “Living Breathing Document” which really says the Constitution means whatever the hell the Elite claim it does. Moral equivalency is all the rage in our academic circles. We are told it is “compassionate” to render our fellow human beings dependent on the government for food, clothing and housing. We are becoming subjects of an all powerful State. In short, our gift from God… free will, is being exchanged for empty trinkets and glittering lies. This is a bargain with the devil… because, since God gave us free will, it is the role of Lucifer to take it away.

Sincerely,

John Pepin
